PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP repeatedly claims that the European Union was “formed in order to screw the United States”. Canada, America’s northern neighbour and second-largest trading partner, is “one of the nastiest countries”. Russia was “doing what anyone would do” when it bombed Ukraine’s energy infrastructure during a pause in American intelligence sharing. Our polling with YouGov shows how this rhetoric is reshaping people’s opinions about their countries’ allies.

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz says the military will expand its operation in Gaza and seize "large areas" of the territory.

Germany's military, the Bundeswehr, recently got the all-clear for a massive increase in investment after parliament voted to exempt defence spending from strict rules on debt.

The country's top general has told the BBC the cash boost is urgently needed because he believes Russian aggression won't stop at Ukraine.

"We are threatened by Russia. We are threatened by Putin. We have to do whatever is needed to deter that," Gen Carsten Breuer says. He warns that Nato should be braced for a possible attack in as little as four years.

"It's not about how much time I need, it's much more about how much time Putin gives us to be prepared," the defence chief says bluntly. "And the sooner we are prepared the better."

Sir Keir Starmer's plan for an international force to support a ceasefire in Ukraine has been dismissed as "a posture and a pose" by Donald Trump's special envoy.

Steve Witkoff said the idea was based on a "simplistic" notion of the UK prime minister and other European leaders thinking "we have all got to be like Winston Churchill".

**In an interview with pro-Trump journalist Tucker Carlson, Witkoff praised Vladimir Putin, saying he "liked" the Russian president.

"I don't regard Putin as a bad guy," he said. "He's super smart."**

The Orange Turd is in on it with Putin. Who could have seen this coming!

US President Donald Trump has signed an order to strip back the federally-funded news organisation Voice of America, accusing it of being "anti-Trump" and "radical".

A White House statement said the order would "ensure taxpayers are no longer on the hook for radical propaganda", and included quotes from politicians and right-wing media railing against the "leftist", "partisan" VOA.

"Trump’s tariffs on steel and aluminium could see billions of dollars’ worth of Canadian metals being redirected and dumped on Europe. Could this spark a second transatlantic trade war?"

"Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mélanie Joly had one stark warning to share Wednesday: “If the U.S. can do this to us, their closest friend, then nobody is safe.”

I'm trying hard not to accuse America per se but recognise that this is Trump and his administration being driven by Kremlin interference and direct involvement.

I cannot see the American people putting up with this nightmare but I fear it's not hitting home as it should.

Ukraine is just a part of a bigger picture where Russia is actively interfering with Western politics, business, governments, elections and referendums with the aim of bringing down the West.

With the traditional USA out of the game Russia will move on to eastern Europe. In the meantime China makes it's move on Taiwan and others in the region; the Trump USA taking Canada, Greenland, Western Europe; the middle east being carved between Russia and Trump USA.

It's going to get a lot worse before it gets any better whilst Trump is in power.
