Today, Attorney General Pamela Bondi released the following statement:

“Luigi Mangione’s murder of Brian Thompson — an innocent man and father of two young children — was a premeditated, cold-blooded assassination that shocked America. After careful consideration, I have directed federal prosecutors to seek the death penalty in this case as we carry out President Trump’s agenda to stop violent crime and Make America Safe Again.”

The Georgian Dream government has decided to create a ‘Department of Government Efficiency’ to ostensibly oversee various branches of the executive power. The name of the planned agency mirrors that of a so-called department established by unelected tech billionaire Elon Musk during US President Donald Trump’s second term.

The Supreme Court on Monday appeared sympathetic to the argument by a Catholic Charities chapter that Wisconsin violated the Constitution when it refused to give the group the same exemption from the state’s unemployment tax that it provides to churches, religious schools, and some religious groups. Justices from both sides of the ideological spectrum seemed to agree that the state’s denial of the exemption amounted to discrimination against Catholic Charities, with Justice Elena Kagan suggesting that it was “pretty fundamental that we don’t treat some religions better than others. And we certainly don’t do it based on the content of the religious doctrine that those religions preach.”

A number of large Iranian container ships are using the trade route to the port of Antwerp in Belgium as cover for suspicious activities, which are being closely monitored by Western intelligence agencies. However, catching them in the act is nearly impossible. There are six suspect ships tracked by the investigative team that are believed to be involved in espionage, aiding the Houthis in their attacks on commercial vessels, and transporting weapons to Syria and Russia. A team of investigative journalists, along with the Belgian newspaper De Tijd, followed the route of these six Iranian ships on their journeys from Iranian ports to Europe via the Syrian port of Latakia.

  • Unexpected Role: Flight attendants were told they would fly rock bands, sports teams and sun-seekers. Then Global Crossing Airlines started expanding into federal deportation flights.
  • Human Struggles: Some flight attendants said they ignored orders not to interact with detainees. “I’d say ‘hola’ back,” said one flight attendant. “We’re not jerks.”
  • Safety Concerns: Flight attendants received training in how to evacuate passengers but said they weren’t told how to usher out detainees whose hands and legs were bound by shackles.

“All I Know Is I Want Them Home”: Disproportionate Removal of Aboriginal Children from Families in Western Australia.

It’s a struggle to get up every day.… I’m just trying to take it one day at a time and not try and think about the long term and all the things I’m going to miss out on because obviously that doesn’t help and just overwhelms me.

I’m going to miss those first words, the first roll over, everything, they’re going to stop me from that first-time normal experience. You go from being a mum and getting used to doing bottles and feeding times … to completely nothing.

― Briana L. (pseudonym), a 36-year-old Aboriginal woman from Perth, Western Australia, whose three-month old son was removed from her care

In March 2024, Briana L. received an email from Western Australia’s child protection authorities informing her they were planning to remove her only child, 3-month-old “Mica,” from her care.

The email came less than a week after the domestic violence refuge where Briana had lived since Mica’s birth evicted them. Child protection workers said they were taking Mica from Briana’s care due to her unstable housing situation, Briana told Human Rights Watch. Days after the email, child protection authorities from the Western Australian Department of Communities took Mica away.

“They never had an issue with my parenting until I didn’t have a roof over my head,” she said. “Just because someone’s homeless we shouldn’t be taking the child off them. You should be offering them more help if anything.”
