I saw it with my son. Honestly it felt like a G rated Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny.
In that it was a shitty movie that was aiming for "so bad it's good" and it was one of the rare instances where they succeeded.
We've had books since ancient Greece and people are still writing new stories.
Plot points, mechanics, and character tropes will get recycled and mixed around, but there's always going to be something "new."
