You're right, that does sound particularly like something an autistic person would say. It's also something I'd be perfectly happy to hear and engage with.

"New toilet paper, same shit" is how an old boss of mine used to say it. Good for if you want to go clever yet crude.

I went to the one in my small city in SC. Had a few hundred people along a decently busy road. I was pleasantly surprised as hundreds of passing cars showed support over the 2 hours we were there, and only a dozen or so expressed opposition. I was not surprised that a majority of passers-by didn't engage at all though. The real majority in this country is not left or right, it's apathy.

Found Lemmy during the API protest and ditched reddit. I've been meaning to go back to reddit and get banned over the whole crazy censorship thing, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

A big part of the problem is that plenty of Republicans would answer some or all of your pointed questions with an unironic "yes."

Easy. He'll just keep having more kids.

Sounds like you've got executive level potential.

If I may abuse a metaphor, the money they are getting now is the bird in the hand, and the money they could be getting from a enthusiastically supportive base is the two birds in the bush. Why chase what they might get, when they can hold on to what they have? Especially when they consider that letting go of the bird in the hand will cause it to fly straight over to join the birds already in their opponent's hand.

Now, we might say the bird in the hand is poisonous, and should be discarded regardless, but a look at longtime party leadership makes me think they know, and they don't care. Those people haven't cared for a long time, if they ever did. As long as the likes of Pelosi can keep their own seat, it doesn't matter how much damage is done to the country, they can keep enriching themselves while claiming to care.

Or, at least that's what it looks like from where I'm standing.

No one thinks an older account means a more valid opinion. However, brand new accounts are often trolls evading bans, so that's why that was mentioned. And I gotta say, your comments are coming off pretty trollish.

You keep saying that other comments are supporting Hamas and apologizing for terrorists when you are literally the only person talking about them in these comments so far. Critique of Israeli government is not an endorsement of Hamas, as they can, in fact, both be awful. I find it weird that you just assumed critique of one was somehow support of the other.

They don't exactly prevent breakage either. They actually shatter with just slightly more force than normal vehicle glass, it's just that they take quite a lot more impacts to actually penetrate through them.

No, this is extremely atypical US imperialism. That's why the world finds it so shocking. Typical US imperialism is quietly redirecting food aid to support a more US friendly leader taking power, and slipping some arms shipments in as well. Our typical imperialism included strong-arming other world leaders, but only in closed door meetings, followed by shaking hands and smiling with them for the cameras. It was subtly reminding allies that they rely on our militarily might for safety from their more aggressive neighbors, so they owe us support on a global issue. And yes, the more heinous stuff, like assassinations, bribery, supporting coups, and etc. All stuff that's plausibly deniable, or given a veneer of legitimacy, or just kept unnoticed. By the time any of the awfulness shows through, it's old news, everyone's attention has moved on to elsewhere.

Trump is destroying or fucking up at all of that. He's taken all the winning hands the US has carefully built up and banked over many years, and thrown them in the trash. Following that, his meeting with Zelensky caught global attention by being blatantly naked imperialism running down the street babbling incoherently. If you're an enemy of the US, or just someone who's sick of our shit, you may want to celebrate, because we are currently watching American hegemony disintegrate in real time.
