BER sollte 2012 in Betrieb gehen und 0,95 Milliarden Euro kosten, am Ende ging es ~~2018~~ 2020 in Betrieb und kostete 7,7 Milliarden Euro: ~~6~~ 8 Jahre Verzug, 7fache Kosten (Anmerkung: im Wikipedia Artikel stimmt die Umrechnung von D-Mark "1,1Mrd DM" und 0,954Mrd EUR nicht, ich habe jetzt einfach mal den Euro-Wert genommen).

S21 sollte 2019 in Betrieb gehen und 4 Mrd. Euro kosten, mitterweile steht es bei 2027 und 11 Milliarden Euro: 8 Jahre Verzug, knapp 3 fache Kosten bis jetzt.

Die Projekte sind also bezüglich Verzug und Kostenexplosion durchaus vergleichbar.

I recommend using a touring/mountain/road bike with the same crank length than the Brompton (175mm) and check the development of the gear you use on the steepest incline you usually ride on your Brompton. Then see how you can achive this development on the Brompton. On a mountain bike you normally have a development of 1.7m or lower on the lowest gear. This is not possible on the Brompton without further modifications - the limit is 1.95m with a 39T chainring with a 17T sprocket .

BTW: I use a 42T chainring that results in a development of 2.38m in combination with the 15T sprocket.

Have a look at the "ritzelrechner.de" - It also covers various Brompton configurations: https://ritzelrechner.de/?GR=BWR6&KB=50&RZ=13%2C16&UF=1330&TF=75&SL=2.6&UN=KMH&DV=development&GR2=BWR6&KB2=42&RZ2=12%2C15&UF2=1330 Imho, for 6 speed Bromptons, 12/15T sprockets is a good combination because it gives you a constant 25% spread between gears.
