I totally agree, and apparently so do a lot of people. :)

I absolutely love Shadowdark. I just can't find anyone to play it with. Fantastic game, though.

It's very simple. We'll get rid of the pride flags as soon as they get rid of all the crosses. Fair is fair, after all.

Uncomfortable? You're supposed to put cushions on those chairs, you silly person. :P

Hear me out on this, please.

Let's say that I spend $5k on health insurance in a year, but don't go to the doctor or have any medical issues in that year. Where does my money go? It disappears. I basically just gave away my money, and received nothing in return. However, if I took that $5k and simply put it into a personal savings account instead of giving it away to a health insurance provider - that money stays right there if and whenever I decide to use it. It even collects interest.

I realize that with a health insurance provider, you're (supposedly) getting discounted rates on medical services - but if your money is just disappearing into thin air if you don't happen to need those medical services in a given year, are you really saving money? It just seems like a really big scam to me - what am I missing?

Posteo is ridiculously cheap, secure (e2e encryption and the whole works) and just all-around great. Been using it for years without a single issue.

I found some scenes from the movie 'Amistad' (1997) deeply disturbing, and they haunt me to this day (as they should any sane human being).

We have never had free or fair elections in this country. Not once. Ever.

I guess we'll find out. If a viable option that isn't Android or iOS comes along, I'll use that. Until then, I refuse to play the game anymore.

Can you point me to an Amazon game that's a runaway blockbuster success?

I'll tell you what I'm going to do. I'm going to stop using Android. I don't need my phone. Sure, it's convenient and often helpful, but it's not something I can't live without. Fuck these assholes.

I mean, considering what a train-wreck Rings of Power is......yay?

30 years? It's happening now. A significant portion of the homeless people that exist in this country are senior citizens who are too old to work and cannot afford housing. There are programs that are able to help some of them, but not all.

I've mentioned that I like to just sit back in my easy chair, put headphones on and just listen to music without doing anything else. People say this is weird and say they would fall asleep or go crazy from not doing anything. Am I weird for doing this?

I used to adore the Feedbro extension for Firefox - until I learned that browser extensions are a privacy concern and stopped using them. Unfortunately, I've been unable to find anything similar for the Linux desktop. I just can't seem to find the 'sweet spot' with all the readers I've tried. Some are bloated with features and complicated configurations that I will never use. Others are too simplistic. Still others haven't seen an update in years. I feel like this is an impossible quest.

The readers I have tried (and discarded):

  • Liferea
  • RSS Guard
  • News Flash
  • Feeds
  • Feed Deck
  • Feed Flow
  • Akregator
  • Thunderbird
  • Raven Reader

Here are the features I need:

  • FOSS (obviously)
  • Import/export OPML
  • Scale the size of the UI and all text elements
  • RSS feed discovery
  • Fetch full articles
  • Configure update interval
  • Privacy-conscious
  • Desktop only (I am currently unable to self-host)

Things that would be nice, but I can live without if I have to:

  • Dark mode
  • An uncluttered, two-column display

That's about it. Now tell me that I am asking too much and there's no hope for me. :D

I'm not sure when or where this occurred, but at some point I just became less inclined to speak up on social media. I still do, of course, but now there's this little...cringe....inside of me whenever I do. The sarcasm, the gaslighting, the armchair 'experts' who seemingly exist just to punch holes in whatever opinion I have - this mean-spiritedness has made me far, far less likely to engage in most conversations online. And, I've watch this translate over into my offline life, as well. It seems like my world has become a gigantic minefield where every step could potentially blow up in my face from someone who somehow got offended by something I said, or someone who has made it their life's mission to correct every opinion I have. I just....stopped engaging, for the most part.

What's even worse is that I've found myself exhibiting the exact same sort of behavior from time to time. It's like social media is trying to train me to be argumentative and rude. Everyone tells me that it's 'just the way it is', but I can't help feeling like we can do better....or at least wishing that we could.

As the title says, I'm looking for a nice template to create adventure modules in LibreOffice. Something generic (not made specifically for D&D) with text boxes to read to players, frames for maps, etc. I can't seem to find a single one, and I lack the skills and/or knowledge of how to create one on my own. Can anyone help?
