Problem came back but very late, like 7th or 8th page maybe.

I reste the whole app. Problem is now gone.

I removed all my muted communities, users and instances. I moved them to Blocked communities on my Lemmy account directly and the problem still persists.

I'm on a Pixel 7. It was working fine 2 months ago (gove or take, I'm not sure when the issue started happening).

I get the same error as what's described here. Do we have any ideas?

This exact issue is happening to me. On every category, even Local. The first page loads instantly, the second and other pages timeout.

I am on lemmy.world with Boost. I have lots of muted communities and some things blocked but not much.

It has been happening for weeks on my side, it never worked since I have this issue (so it is not intermittent) and even as a Guest (lemmy.world) the problem occurs.

Feel free to ask questions. I would be glad to help 😇

You are right. Now, should we then condone any kind because we condone one? It might be hypocritical to condone one and not the other. But I prefer to chose my fights instead of going for none.

don't feed the troll they say...

TTS has existed for decades, machine learning for less than 20 years, genAI as we know it for less than 5.

Those 3 things are not the same thing. Yes the genAI they used can be included as a TTS because it is one. But only in function.

You are playing on words here. Most people know TTS as a crappy old thing, here this is something way more advanced.

Even if it was the same thing to begin with. I wouldn't be like a company using a simple TTS capable of recreating the voice of a voice actor I like without paying them the same as if the company hired them.

Not sure about "not aiming for millions".

The quality of it is not perfect to me. And you should really watch the video. There are blatant problems in the clips the author shows.

Finally, if you cannot afford something in the first place because of budget issues, I would prefer not including it than including it by using a controversial technology.

PS: And maybe after the facts hire voice actors to enhance your game with all the voice lines you can now pay for. I hate this "break first, say sorry after" mindset tbh

First I am not talking about any deceipt. Though I think it wasn't clear enough IMHO, but they didn't have to put it upfront. Thus why I am advocating in some sort of label or something idk.

Second I didn't talk about voice chat but voice lines. Specifically named character voice line. Which isn't the same thing.

The first is for player accessibility, the second is just something you could make with professional voice actors. No need for genAI.

[–] Chef6652@lemmy.world 4 points 5 months ago

Yes, exactly. What's your point?

[–] Chef6652@lemmy.world 7 points 5 months ago (12 children)

First, please stay civil. I didn't insult you. Don't insult me.

Secondly I mark the difference between the accessibility feature of voice changer and the voice lines that could have been 100% recorded by a professional voice actor to begin with.

Because in the second case, this is just cost-cutting in order to maximise profit on the back of voice actors imho.

Marketing this as “text-to-speech” is oversimplyfying at best, dishonest at worst. People need to work, we can’t blame the voice actors. But in the end they still are working against themselves/their peers by allowing corporations/studios to copy their unique features to prevent working with them in the future.

I just found out that Embark used genAI to replace recalling it's voice actors. And I am devastated. It was my GOTY and now I'm boycotting it. To the point that I decided to be vocal about it.

I don't want any AI (not talking about machine learning for the way the Arcs move, I'm talking about the voice actors being replaced) in the work of art that I think are the video games I play.

To game developers: Stop using AI in your video games!

Hi everyone,

The label is saying that this plant is a "Portulaca" without specifying.

But the label also says to put the plant in partial shading with a humid soil. Another red flag compared to the Portulaca Umbraticola is that the label says it's highly toxic to humans when I found online that it's not.

Finally, I first tried putting it on a full sunlight balcony (bright hot sun from 10am to 9pm). It become red/yellow but bloomed, now it's on a partially shaded balcony (light sun from 7am to 10pm) and it's still loosing its leaves, even more, the color is worsening as you can see.

That's why I tried online identifiers and they all told me Portulaca umbraticola and that the needs were not the one I had on the label... I might be overwatering then (once every two days).

Should I trust the label and let it there and continue watering? Or shouldn't I trust the label?
