ok, I finally figured out my view on this I believe. I was worried I was being a grumpy old man who was just yelling at the AI (still probably am, but at least I can articulate why I feel this is a negative reply to my concerns)

It's not reproducible.

I personally don't believe asking an AI with a prompt then "troubleshooting" it is the best educational tool for the masses to be promoted to each-other. It works for some individuals, but as you can see the results will always vary with time.

There are so many promotional and awesome educational tools that emphasize the "doing" part instead of reading. You don't need to ask an AI prompt then try to fix all the horrible shit when there is always a statistically likely chance you will never be able to solve it and the AI gave you an impossible answer to fix.

I get some people do it, some people succeed, and some people are maybe so lonely that this interaction is actually preferable since it seems like some weird sort of collaboration. The reality is that the AI was trained unethically and has so many moral and ethical repercussions that just finding a decent educator or forum/discord to actually engage with is whole magnitudes better for society and your own mental processes.

Is the general IQ on Lemmy dropping that rapidly? I've seen your name before but can't remember the context so I'm going to assume this is in good faith.

Leadership positions....wait for it.... lead and address the members of their party and their actions. You know, like the republicans currently have on lock and shit on anyone that steps out of bounds. These individuals should most definitely be called the fuck out

Rep. Golden's Tweet

“I voted for the SAVE Act for the simple reason that American elections are for Americans. Requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote is common sense,”

Some claim that requiring proof of citizenship is too onerous a burden, or that it will "disenfranchise" those whose names have changed for reasons like marriage. The truth is the SAVE Act ensures name changes will not prevent anyone from registering to vote.

But most importantly, it requires state leaders to establish protocols to allow citizens to register even if there are discrepancies in documents, such as name changes.

State's Rights.... The "real" truth is.... Common Sense, if that isn't the fucking republican playbook I don't know what is. Best part is the end,

Maine's voting culture is the best in the nation. I am confident that under the SAVE Act, our state can both ensure that only citizens can cast ballots and that no one faces unnecessary barriers to registering to vote.

fuck you, we got ours. No protections for those outside of his state, he doesn't fucking care lol. Every single one of these fuckers needs primaried and taken out of office. The actual fucking DNC shutting down funding and kicking these losers from the party would be a miracle we all need but won't happen.

These comments and reactions are so interesting to me. Like, who are you? If you're a progressive, you don't want more blocking for a citizen to vote. If you're a conservative, you don't want laws being passed that aren't necessary and add to the government's control.

There is absolutely no on-going problem with voter fraud. There is absolutely no reason for this to be a problem for any legislative body to be focusing on. But, you and other commenters always have the same response, "Well, country (A,B,C) do it, what's the big deal?"

Like wtf is the big deal to begin with? It never starts with that, it's "what problem do you have with this extra legislation that isn't needed?"

EVEN ONE PERSON NOT BEING ABLE TO VOTE BECAUSE OF THIS IS A PROBLEM TO ME! ONE PERSON BEING DISENFRANCHISED FROM RUNNING DOWN TO THEIR LOCAL ELECTIONS TO VOTE BECAUSE OF A REQUIREMENT THEY CAN'T REACH IS A FUCKING PROBLEM FOR ME!

[–] [email protected] -3 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

all of these fucking upvotes with no fucking context.

A new poll shows that 84% of Greenlanders want their homeland to be independent from Denmark. Yet almost half, 45%, say they only want it if it does not have a negative impact on their standard of living.

twist that shit all you want, just seems like you're a Denmark nationalist with your comments. You're whole fucking comment reeks

"we made mistakes in the past... good luck finding someone else to support you"

like a fucking toxic relationship with an abuser, holy shit.

I think a better comparison would be a "Drive-In Theater", because with pirating you're just seeing the film, not using their seats/venue (servers) so it's like you're sitting in the neighbors yard watching it from their porch. Still costing them what would be considered a "viewing purchase" for the data but you're really not putting a strain on the theater itself by "attending or sneaking in".

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 days ago (2 children)

thank you for that last sentence because I thought I was going crazy reading through these responses.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

Take your time, real-life shit always takes priorities. I had most of the day off so I was able to fart around or else I would be in the same boat as you. I'll be around to help you with seeing reality and developing proper analysis skills when you're free and ready lol.

Wow, didn't think you would take the victim stance so hard. Just to be clear, you're saying I didn't reply to you but I need to take my arrogant stance somewhere else? The instigator of this argument is telling me I'm antagonistic? hahahaha

You can lie all you want about your big-boy pants, the proof is in the pudding when you show your immaturity. You can't even get the basics of this discussion right. "not only are you underselling the nintendo switch emulator, you are overselling emulators like dolphin etc." if you don't see the dichotomy you've created I don't know how to solve what's obviously a lifetime learning problem.

Let's see, was there anything else you actually said? Hmm, now 34.17 is acceptably 34 but not 35 when budgeting bills, idk wtf you're doing now. More company defending... made up anecdotal shit about your life I don't believe.... and you still don't understand how subscription services work.

You can't see the point of Netflix enshittification so you're lost there, you think creators are being fairly compensated for the games on the nintendo emulator... lol it's getting harder to address the BS as this goes on.

I don't know how many times I can say this just for you to come back all huffy puffy again. "will pay for something if i find its more convenient. I dont care about paying," Tell me more how you're paying a monthly subscription for a free emulator and a mario kart expansion.... 4 years, woah. That's really just mindblowing. Let's cut the bullshit and actually give real world examples.

NINTENDO SWITCH FAMILY PLAN - $79.99 yearly subscription (FROM THE WEBSITE) (86$ish x 4= $344!)

Do You Keep DLC After Expansion Pack Expires?

No, absolutely not. When your Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership expires, you lose access to all included DLC, N64 games, Genesis games, and other content. You‘ll have 180 days after expiration to renew your membership and regain access to everything. But after 180 days, all of that content gets permanently removed unless you purchase the Expansion Pack subscription again. It‘s designed as a continual service rather than a one-time add-on purchase. You only keep the extra content as long as you keep paying for it.

Is the Expansion Pack Worth the Cost?

the value depends heavily on how much you actually play the included N64 and Genesis games. Many criticize these retro game libraries as lacking depth and variety, especially compared to Xbox Game Pass. You can also purchase Switch DLCs individually without the bundled Expansion Pack subscription. Here are normal prices for the major DLCs it includes:

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass: $24.99

Buying these one by one costs only $70 altogether – already less than a year of the subscription. And you‘ll own them permanently rather than temporarily renting with a subscription.

Your cost/benefit analysis is biased and flawed. Like you glossed over before, here are some examples of handheld emulators you won't lose when you decide to stop paying. They have more games and will last longer, better companies and progressive consumerism (I'm advocating for positive consumerism, not blind purchases). Best part is you'll actually save some money in the long run, I think we can stop pretending now that other people in the plan and your children are helping pay the bill at this point lol.

edit: format

I'm imagining like a "Bop it" scenario where your action has to correspond to the sign's intention (extra mental hurdle you have to perform). You could increase the speed for difficulty or start throwing in additional road signs from around the world you would have to learn the meaning of.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (4 children)

Man you kinda just suck at this and have completely proven my point. You don't round bills down.... have you done a budget before like a big boy? I can't even take you seriously when you dance around some numbers bullshit lol. You're paying for a monthly service to play a free emulator, justify it all you want.

I never replied to you, @[email protected] is who I replied too. You've decided to jump in and talk about BOTW lol

I literally linked you the exact program for the nintendo switch emulator, which you've paid hundreds of dollars for the "portability" of taking an emulator off a desktop (congrats! I don't think it's ever been done before....oh wait). The glitch shit just is false dichotomy that you're stretching for.

Funny you mentioned Netflix but unironically used it as a positive example?!?! Even though it's enshittification and current state promotes piracy?!?! hahaha and then just completely blow over the fact that yes...the first game was just removed a few days ago, and the version before literally lost a bunch of great games (do you really not get the message? You don't own the game, they are not required to keep letting you play it)

It's obvious you're a happy-mindless consumer, everything you've said points more negative light on exactly why I wouldn't pay for the service. You don't think Nintendo is a good company, you think they're greedy and aggressive, yet you're completely ok with doing business with them. I think it's a shit company with a shit service and you're getting ripped off in more ways than one (financially, morally, technologically, socially).

If you're actually serious about being a real consumer, put your money towards actual companies and developers you can feel good about. Here's some examples listed, the best part is they're not going to keep showing up every month to collect money from you! I guarantee you, your family would remember an awesome product from one of those companies 10x more than just playing a dumb ol' switch like every pleb. Really just trying to give them the most basic corporate experience in life eh?

edit: you're-your

[–] [email protected] -2 points 1 week ago (6 children)

Good lord, you're actually gonna come down and try to defend your actions like some kind of corporate propagandist. Fucking sad really how you've got it all twisted. SOMEONE IS PAYING FOR THE SERVICE! I don't care how many people are listed and aren't using it, YOU'RE STILL PAYING FOR A YEARLY SUBSCRIPTION FOR A FUCKING ONLINE EMULATOR. Where the fuck was a lie made? Care to misrepresent some more shit?

It's 4.17 not 5? I should take that as my first clue you're not serious. People round up to 5 for meals all the time, this is such a strange thing to start on.

Nintendo confirms Switch Online retro game removal in US and Europe

Responding to the news on X, former PlatinumGames co-founder and current Clovers Studio founder Hideki Kamiya – who regularly posts about his love of classic games – criticised the move, asking for the return of the Virtual Console service, which was available on Wii, Wii U and 3DS and allowed individual games to be bought.

“Hey hey hey, I guess subscriptions are no good after all,” Kamiya wrote. “Seriously, bring back the Virtual Console… don’t be so mean.”

It should also be noted that numerous retro games were delisted from Virtual Console over the years too, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Yoshi’s Cookie, Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure, Aleste, SimCity, Street Fighter II, Final Fight 1-3, Super Turrican 2 and Super R-Type.

for 1-6, you're paying a rental subscription service to play an emulator... just type emulator into a search engine, go to one of the hundreds of sites. Hell, go to archive.org and get the official nintendo online emulator pack.

Here's your mariokart, here's your banjo.

Guess what?!?! I'm not gonna charge you a fucking penny and I'm not gonna log onto your device and remove your data!! You're welcome!!

(don't know what the fuck you're talking about BOTW for, it was an example that nintendo is making shittier products and can't be relied upon anymore if their flagship game can't even run properly on the console, keep making an ass of yourself though)

cough amiibo cough

seriously though, Nintendo knows what they're doing with their new limited scarcity tactics with trying to stay relevant. I think you'll be able to find physical SNES games easier than switch 2 games in 30 years.

Full build details can be found at the following link.

This will probably be a weekly spotlight for DIY creators with full instructions. If there is someone you want to nominate for next week, just leave a link below in the comments.

Felt inspired. Be gentle, please make any salty comments or downvotes in comic form.

Really decently made by Power543 fan films. I'm not sure how I feel about ret-conning footage putting the character in but I suppose with such a limited cast like Universe you would have to insert someone. There's talk of a Star Trek/Stargate crossover (another fan made film in the link) that they're developing, hopefully it comes to existence.

I wanted to share and highlight this video for others to see. This is such a thorough and amazing resource for the dev team at Frost Giant (the makers of Stormgate) that I hope they have seen. The breakdown and walk-through of the different elements of the game was such an amazing thing to watch.

I found myself sitting there watching for hours, this is exactly what game companies need in terms of experienced game tester leads that can articulate and explain everything going on in the game from the perspective of an average player. I think if every game company had someone of this caliber, to sit down with them and go over the basic mechanics of the games, we would all be a lot better off. I felt like I was sitting in on a company meeting while an outside contractor was going over his notes with the developers and trying to understand their vision while giving his unique and experienced position.

I'm definitely more excited about the game than I was previously after watching this video (as confusing as that might seem). It shows a clear path of how to fix and enhance the gameplay which has a chance to come into fruition with the game still in the testing phase.

This was another DIY project I ran across that looks a little less intimidating than Kristian Tysse's Stargate Project.

The link has full build instructions, how to order parts, and 3d models for completion. If you're looking at getting into diy electronics and love stargate this could be a cool project for yourself or a loved one! (I think I'm getting ready to gear up for something like this)

Youtube clip of the project.

I ran into an old movie I had on VHS as a kid titled "MegaForce" (1982) (RT link). I hadn't seen the movie in decades and was worried looking at a rotten tomato score of 6% that if I watched it, I would be completely disappointed in the movie as an adult. Surprisingly, I didn't realize as a kid that it was actually more of a spoof comedy action movie like a knock-off "Hot Shots" or "Naked Gun" and just completely enjoyed watching it again because it felt like a whole new experience (definitely better than the new G.I. Joe's lol).

So what's your movie from your past that you'll always enjoy no matter how cheesy or horrible it may seem?

I'm not sure how I first ran into it but it seems there are a lot of paintball places that embrace the Stargate franchise! There is a permanent zone for our UK family,

Paintball UK - Stargate Zone

Another mention that has unfortunately passed, The Swamp Fun Park had a stargate themed event "STARGATE: THE NID PROBLEM CONTINUES". Found a vid from someone participating, really wish they recorded the scenario briefing and the lore behind what they were doing though.

If you're into both of these aspects, definitely look around because I've found a lot of different ones that have expired but seems to be a reoccurring theme people like to use.

I've been seeing more often (and others have posted the same) that some of the elements of "Reddit etiquette" seem to be taking over here. Luckily I can still find discussion comments but it seems the jokes and general "downvote because I disagree" are slowly taking over.

So the question becomes is it the size or the functionality of the site? The people or popularity? What's your thoughts?

edit: should I change it to Lemmy-hivemind? Exhibit A: the amount of downvotes without a single explanation (guessing it's anything to do with Reddit being talked about).

If you don't have the original movie on hand to sync play, you can find it streaming for free on the following platforms:

Pluto TV - Stargate

Roku Channel - Stargate

Tubi TV - Stargate

I'm unsure if all of the links will work for our international friends, if you have a similar link then please share in the comments below.

For those more comfortable with sea faring, I use the following link from our lemmy neighbors over at [email protected]

Instruction landing page for those learning the seas

Direct link to sites (I like fmovies personally but the 321movies/123movies has more clone sites that usually get taken down less)

Crazy different feel to this with the up-scaling done. For me, it makes you feel like you're on the set with them. Unfortunately, it makes you feel like you're on a set lol.
