Maybe try changing the Wi-Fi band ("Wi-Fi Hotspot" -> "Speed and compatibility" menu)? Check also if you get the same slow internet with USB tethering.

That's one of the annoying parts of the stock OS (unless you can ignore the search bar), it's an unremovable part of the default Pixel launcher. To get rid of it you'd have to install a 3rd-party launcher, or just install GrapheneOS 👀

In case some of you want to take pictures tomorrow 😁

Out of curiosity, which one did you get?

But yeah, a case is definitely the first must-buy (went case-free for years, changed my mind recently as I dropped my P7a on concrete for the third time 🙃). No MagSafe ring for mine, but I got a Ringke Onyx case. It's pretty cheap, looks great and even makes your phone much more pleasant to hold.

Or even better, just get a vibrating cock ring.

In the 2000s we had AdSense. So now we're getting... AISense?

Whenever I get lazy I just throw some seasoned chicken drumsticks in my airfryer and then add some Uncle Ben's rice. Almost 0 effort.

There's also group C which I was part of, you just say that you just pooped or scratch your butt whenever they ask you to load/unload and they'll immediately offer to do that for you instead.

This would be a meme by itself:

In the clips and in a full video of the event, audience members in the Palo Alto City Council chambers are seen interrupting the proceedings and making false statements. The event mirrored other public meetings in the Bay Area since Oct. 7 where pro-Palestinian activists have vilified Israel and either defended Hamas as a "resistance" movement or denied its brutality on that day.

Julie Lythcott-Haims, a candidate who is currently a member of the Palo Alto City Council, faced more of the vitriol.

"I deplore the actions of Hamas on October 7th," she said, to one loud "boo!" from a female audience member.

"Really? Really?" Lythcott-Haims said. "They butchered people, murdered people, raped people and took hostages."

At mention of the word "raped," the audience exploded with anger. Amid the swell of noise, a boy draped in a Palestinian flag yelled about Hamas: "They did not murder anyone!"

When organizers regained control of the room, Lythcott-Haims said: "I did not know that that would be a controversial statement."

(video of the exchange is in the original paywalled article but archive.today turns embedded videos into screenshots, so for those who want to see it but can't open the paywalled article here's the direct link: https://www.instagram.com/danielleyablonka/reel/C2yyfi9sRMx/)

tl;dr from the article:

  • Auracast is a feature of the Bluetooth LE Audio standard that enables broadcasting audio to nearby devices.
  • Android added basic support for Bluetooth LE Audio in Android 13, including support for starting and connecting to audio streams.
  • Android 15 could get a dedicated page for audio sharing, signaling that Auracast could be a key feature of the new OS.

Screenshots from the article of how the feature would look like:

We mentioned it here two weeks ago but today it's apparently finally rolling out to Pixel 8 phones.

Google's promo video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdbeqSQjZI8

It's also available on the Samsung Galaxy S24, but I guess folks with a Pixel 7 and below will have to wait.

tl;dr: Notification channels, which were introduced with Android 8, are now disabled by default and one has now to enable them manually (screenshots below by Android Police):

step 1 - settings menu step 2 - notifications step 3 - advanced settings

Another great "back to basics", by the great O'Dwyer. Definitely a must-watch for those still struggling with C++ smart pointers.

EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said on Wednesday he was hopeful it could be decided later in the day which member state could lead the upcoming EU mission to protect vessels in the Red Sea, adding this operation could de launched before mid-February.

"Not all member states will be willing to participate but no one will obstruct (..) I hope that on the 17th of (February) the mission can be launched," Borrell said.

He added the operation will be named Aspides , "which means protector".
