You asked if I was alive. Yes, I was.

Was I on Usenet? Nope, but my family were very early adopters of computer and internet technology 🤷🏻‍♀️

Cyber official... Is this 1996?

Eh, I'd argue that the format is somewhat obsolete. When you have to travel to a cinema and pay an entry fee, the content needs to justify that effort

Now that most content is consumed at home, feature films don't necessarily need to exist as they have. The TV show format has adapted to the British model of a few short seasons, maybe just one.

For certain types of feature film, I'd much rather see a miniseries that allows even more content to get screen time and tells a more developed story (documentaries have moved in this direction).

(Yes there are great feature films still being made and I never said there aren't... But the vast majority are not worth the time they demand that I give them)

I prefer podcasts over all other media

I also enjoy video games.

I don't think that feature-length films make sense in this environment. They're long, formulaic, and somewhat predictable because of that

OK but these rich are morons. They seem not to realize that they are dependent on systems that support them. They want to bring about the state of nature and then expect to hide behind their money?

Yes, I said "amon the worst"

I've never been to India or driven there but I'm sure it's worse even than some Chinese cities.

When I was in Shanghai a few years ago, there was a company using autonomous driving vending machines for lunch meals. The vehicles were pitiable to watch. They were programmed for safety but Chinese moped drivers are programmed for everything but!

The poor little vending van was constantly starting and stopping, sometimes after going just a few centimeters.

Just find a different instance, right? Not that hard...

Chinese traffic is among the worst scenarios I can imagine for driverless cars...

They have all these fears about getting shut down but refuse to move over here. In an emergency they think YouTube comments are a safe space

I guarantee that /r/Superstonk will be either private or nonexistent in a year. Reddit is now fully onboard with silencing any communities that threaten their investors

I guess they really want Israel to stop!

"Since there are a raft of unknowns with Israel’s next steps in and what sort of fallout that might trigger, it makes sense to step back and see if we can infer anything, even at a very general level, from known or presumed boundary conditions."

Do the mods even know that Lemmy exists?

It's the best group on Reddit with good and active moderators. They deserve better than this disrespect from the company

When I open links to other communities in the Lemmyverse, they don't open in Jerboa. They open in chrome. As a result, I'm not logged in and can't subscribe or interact. I've found lots of communities this way but it's a hassle to subscribe to them.

Hey, like the title says, what's a good instance for pornographic content?
