I think it's that Dragon Quest was pretty Genre defining. Not really first of its kind but one of the greats of its time.

Ah, shit. I forgot where I was...
Kind philosopher, certain citizens of this democracy have associated social hierarchy to the order of the alphabet.
This is related to the observed hierarchy of wolves. Those enjoyers of fables such as Homer's writings have taken a liking to comparing themselves to famous heroes in these fables.
One may see Zeus as an Alpha. The leader of the pack who lays with all women.
Or the enlightened mind may see Hephaestus as a Sigma for, despite being ugly and disliked he still lays with the goddess of beauty and sexuality.
Further, one may consider Odysseus a Beta/Cuckold because he does not take the advice of Ariadne and becomes lost within the labyrinth (of his mind?).
Memes may be portrayed as art on urns or as murals in bath houses depicting such stories of victory, lust and woe. Many people enjoy sharing these for a quick chuckle.
It's a derivation of the cultish manosphere philosophy. Further related to the idea that wolves and humans are organised in packs by social status.
Alpha: The typical macho leader
Beta/Beta-cuck: The nobody that lets the alpha fuck his girl
Sigma: The far evolved thinking man. Leads from the shadows, could take all the girls but doesn't cause they're too busy in the pursuit of knowledge. Basically the line wolf.
This is again an extension of the Cool Chad/Slut Stacy/Nerd trope but with the addition of a Sigma.
Nowadays you call someone a Sigma to basically say they're a Chad/cool.
Then there's also a meme where you just ask people "Hey, What's a Sigma?"
Here's a KYM page about it. https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/sigma-males

I typically play female characters in games too. Always have. They're something outside my world experience, I can experience the story through a lense I may not have seen otherwise.
It's nice to see yourself represented but like... Shiiiiiiit dude. I'm reading a book or playing a game to be immersed in the story. Why people put so much stock into who or what a character is; it's beyond me.
I just want some good stories with good characters. I can't fucking wait to kick ass as Cirilla in the Witcher. I loved being Girlboss V in Cyberpunk, Senua was stellar.
Open world RPG? Bet your ass I wanna be goth mommy in plate armour ripping out a dragon's throat.
Also sometimes games had smaller hitboxes for women and little me fucked with that more than anything.
Oh no! A bigot doesn't wanna talk to me.
Do you think people can do that? Just go on the internet and lie?
People of colour aren't a thing anywhere? Damn, gotta inform like.... 6.5 billion people they don't exist.
Do you fail to see how people of certain socioeconomic backgrounds and racial backgrounds may have different values and viewpoints thus making them worthy of inclusion by virtue of having different values and viewpoints?
Like... I feel like you're focused on the racial background of this while ignoring the fact that -to paraphrase you- Poor little Mayo kids will also benefit from DEI practices that admit people based on personal experience over "qualification".
Isn't part of the American dream that anyone, of any make and model can find opportunity if they talk to the right person?
The gays vs Gays
The blacks vs Blacks
The poors vs the poor
Coloured People vs People of Colour
Okay, so since you don't recognise that people of colour are a thing outside of America...
Is it not a DEI program to provide Diverse, Equitable and Inclusive school admissions to the poor.
Not American here: isn't a large proportion of the USA's impoverished population made up of immigrants and people of colour?
So... Would that make poverty BS a pseudoscientific category (partly) defined by skin colour?
It doesn't recommend using reddit. It recommends moving from reddit to lemmy.
