In fact a lot of community technical-focused volunteers don't do a lot of editing either. All Anomie of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:AnomieBOT has done is update list tables and sales figures and ze is a highly respected technical editor who, besides the bot and bot approvals, just does a lot of anchor maintenance.

I don't think it's bad that WMF employees don't have experience editing, as that's a very different skillset from WMF's software development, infrastructure, and fundraising missions, but I do agree the lack of community communication is concerning. And thing is, things were pretty great under the last CEO, who announced a timeline of departure last May.

10 out of 10 anarchists recommend violent self-defense against "machiavellian enemy-of-a-country’s-life agents are enforcing future-extermination-of-the-country".

I'm having a hard time deciphering your speech; I don't see how military defense has to do with ordinary criminals.

people only said suicide detection was a good use of AI, not crime surveillance. and nobody's pretending stopping a suicide attempt treats the underlying issues either, and that's still better than not stopping it

do you see how replying to "every city in WA except of Seattle doesn't make it real easy to live without a car, and the city in the article is very much outside of Seattle" with "you can't read, i was just talking about places that don't need them" makes one think you're saying that "the city in the article is not one of the places that don't need them"?

can't you just explain I've got no idea what you're saying either

flippancy is just the progressive version of virtue signaling—it gets nobody else on your side

New Yorkers are eligible for a Fair Fares discount if their household makes no more than 150% of the federal poverty line — or $22,600 a year for a single person. The CBC argued that raising the threshold to 250% of the poverty line, or $39,900 for a one-person household, would do more to help the poor than making the buses free. The nonprofit estimated increasing the income limit would cost taxpayers $232 million a year, up from the $86 million the program currently spends annually.

Although the note’s authenticity has not been established, it contains an apparent reference to a line from a 1931 Little Rascals film that Epstein had used in at least two email messages, according to the trove of Epstein documents released by the U.S. Department of Justice this year in response to the bipartisan Epstein Files Transparency Act.

In December 1982, South African Rodney Wilkinson walked four bombs into Koeberg power station – the crown jewel of the apartheid state – pulled the pins and then left on his bicycle.

U.S. students who study at Sciences Po said they believed that Mr. Trump’s re-election had negatively affected their classmates’ attitudes about Americans. Sofia Antonioli, 19, who is from Bethesda, Md., said that French students now used the word “American” as a pejorative, as in “Oh, that’s so American.”

War tax resistance started long before the internet — in people’s living rooms, where you had to know someone who was already doing it in order to get involved. [...] Last spring, Jacoby, who had never been a tax resister before, took over for an older woman who ran the group for 40 years.

In extreme cases, tax protesters could face wage garnishment, property seizures or prison time, though criminal prosecutions are rare, according to University of Chicago law professor David Weisbach. “They don’t often do that, but they can. And so it’s a form of civil disobedience that comes with all the consequences of civil disobedience, which is that you are subject to legal sanctions, and they can be quite severe,” Weisbach said. “It’s certainly one way of protesting, but it’s a risky way, and it could be a very, very costly way.”

Weisbach said the tax protest movement isn’t necessarily about making a dent in the federal budget. “The whole point of civil disobedience is to change people’s views about the matter,” he said. “Martin Luther King, that’s what he did. They march on a bridge, they break the law, the law was unjust, and they changed people’s views about race. But did he directly change a law? Not so much. He changed people’s views, which caused laws to change.”

(Posting here not because I think it's funny, but because it seems like satire exploring extremes of protest that aren't mutual aid and on such overground groups that have been around for so long. Satirical actions need not be reprehensible.)
