As a former Marilyn Manson fan, yeah, shit sucks. Obviously not nearly as much as it does for the victims, but still, shit sucks.

If your focus is solely on the MAGA cult instead of the oligarch cult leaders, "just smart enough" might be a little generous.

I don't know if "sane" is the right way to describe the historical MO of the US Government with or without Trump, but I know what you mean. I think.

Inkjet printers can be traced if the feds really wanted to (probably very unlikely just for stickers though).

Rhodesia didn't make it though, so there's some precedent for real-world hope too, even though I largely agree with you.

The Tea Party still had the backing of capitalists. If you try moving the Democrat party meaningfully left, you will not have that.

If the Democratic primaries weren’t rigged to hell and back Bernie would have finished his second term last January.

Which the courts said was within their legal right, so you can absolutely expect them to do it again.

Gavin Newsom takes money from AIPAC and knows he can't justify it, and has expressed support for Zionist Israel. Just like Holocaust Harris, I will not vote for anyone who supports genocide. If signing my name to greenlight genocide is the cost of "democracy" (actually oligarchy with some publicly-funded democracy theater), then the price is too high and I refuse.

The Dems rigged the election against Bernie to protect billionaires, then had a court declare that they were legally within their right to rig it. What makes you think they care how angry the average person is at their owners?

And (in the experience of hypothetical pirate goblins I've hypothetically spoken to) won't result in your ISP shutting your internet off until you agree to be nice and never do that again.

The community was active, by the look of it, before the mods shut it down for... idk why.

I'd be happy to start one elsewhere if the federated content actually showed up well between instances. It seems pretty spotty in my experience though, so I'd rather run the instance on one of the larger instances, even understanding your point about centralization. I am more of a Pixelfed user generally though, so maybe the federated content sharing works better here?

I'm pretty sure I can avoid the subreddits being censored by maintaining good moderation, particularly being strict on sourcing and placing a strong emphasis on harm reduction. Unless the admins of this website are simply opposed to the subject being discussed in general, which

  • I doubt is an opinion they hold, seeing as it was the mod of !drugs which shut it down, not the admins of lemmy.world.
  • Would be pretty lame when people are being killed by the fascists in office under the guise of drug-war stigma and rhetoric.

I did start !psy@lemmy.world though because I can't even tell what's happening with !psychedelics@lemmy.world , it's like it got ultra-banned or something lol. And thanks for the recommendations on some other communities!

It has no moderators at all despite still being open to posts. Pretty dead but maybe I can make it not-dead. Trying to make a little network stemming out from !drugs@lemmy.world if that request is approved.

Sourcing - even sourcing legal cannabis, even federally legal like Delta-8-THC - would not be allowed. I would try to find some additional mods from the active users.

I've been a member of drug discussion boards for over a decade and have a pretty good understanding of what's legally allowed (basically any discussion short of step-by-step synthesis instructions) and what's not (sourcing any drugs, even 'grey area' ones).

!drugs@lemmy.world is shut down because...

This community is participating in a blackout against Lemmy for allowing free access to their API with no charge, rendering it affordable for third-party app developers to continue their services. The lack of prohibitive cost makes it easy to mod from mobile, promotes innovation, and gives unlimited user choice, and effectively opens up a significant portion of the culture we’ve all come to appreciate. Indeed, every third party app developer on Lemmy made essentially the same statement: “I don’t have to shut down the app.” Apps can also show ads which is a primary source of revenue. So not only do they not have to pay exorbitant fees, they can even mitigate those fees with ads.

And the current mod is inactive, and has been for 2 years now. I'd like to be made mod there and appoint other mods from active users in the community, considering the sub was pretty active before it got locked down.
