Anything But Metric

Americans will use anything but metric

The Rules:

  1. Posts must be a screenshot, crosspost, or link to someone using a bizarre unit of measurement (33 lanes wide, as heavy as 10 semi-trucks, etc.)

  2. Standard units are not allowed, unless it's a sufficiently bizarre usage of the unit (this is up to mod discretion.)

  3. Intentionally terrible units are completely fine! Satire is welcome here

  4. Curses are fine, slurs are not. If there are slurs in something you want to post, please blur them, or reconsider posting.

  5. Flag NSFW content as such. NSFW words in these posts don't need to be censored.

  6. Post titles should be just the unit of measurement used (not the thing being measured!), and should be the full name of the unit (Apples and Bags of Apples imply very different things!) NSFW units should be partially censored. If there are multiple units, list as many as you want. If the source is satire, the title should start with [Satire]

  7. In the comments be civil, both to each other AND the subject of posts.

That seems like an impossibly high density for a rock.

or impossibly small baby elephants

Or an absolutely child-sized Dr. Pepper:

This is obviously wrong? Three baby elephants inside a soda can means about 650,000kg/m³ if I haven't screwed up the thumbnail estimates. IIRC the densest element we know is osmium and that's "only" about 25,000kg/m³ (give or take some since it's been ages since I learned anything like this).

Depends on your size of soda can and baby elephant, I guess.

Someone on another page thought this was satire and actually asteroid Ida.
https://science.nasa.gov/solar-system/asteroids/243-ida/ Could they be right? I'm no good at telling asteroids apart.

It's definitely not a real thing, that's for sure.

It's because we, as a country, are increasing our educational deficit and have been for decades and it's getting so much worse. Look at this product, now imagine it with the weight of something most people would have no real frame of reference for except "Oh, heavy baby animal, hehe. Think I'll drink a case of the Spicy Healer."
