"Temporarily closes" may have been a better headline.
I thought it meant they were shutting for good, which would be pretty ridiculous.
A community for discussing events around the World
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed. Sources that have a Low or Very Low factual reporting rating or MBFC Credibility Rating may be removed.
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF 10/19
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

An entire restaurant chain commuting seppuku... Ridiculous!
An appropriate response if they want to repair their image. If cleanliness got that bad at even one of their restaurants then that means there's at least a few more that aren't that far behind.
RIP Remy.
He sacrificed his life for more soup umami
I liked that there was a full-page Panda Express ad in the middle of a story about vermin in food.
Oh god, what will that guy that only eats at Sukiya do until they reopen? He's gonna starve.
not an amazing restaurant, to be honest
People don't go there for amazing food, they go to get an extra large beef rice bowl, salad, and a cup of miso soup in under 5 minutes for 7 bucks
yeah i mean i used to eat there, and similar places. a bit of a sad vibe. maybe tasted better to locals. also, it was really long ago, but i feel like the word 'salad' is a bit of an overstatement
Reminds me of when people we're like, casabonita has bad food! 1.) It was fine and 2.) People dont go to CB for the food
they go because their friend could invite 3 friends and one of the original 3 was unavailable
7 dollars for rice, lettuce, mostly water, and maybe a 1/4 pound of beef?
I jest. Merely commenting on how all restaurants are scams if you're looking for a good deal.
Do your cooking at home, people. It's faster, easier, cheaper, and healthier to just make food in the oven than it is to drive to a restaurant or, god forbid, use a delivery app.
Open your minds. Experiment. Eating doesn't have to be something you show off to your peers.
Need protein? https://www.walmart.com/ip/Marketside-Cheddar-Bratwurst-5-Links-1-lb-3-oz-Fresh/5113233441
$4 gets you a little over a pound of bratwurst. Bake it in your oven, put it in a tortilla with a slice of American cheese.
You now have 19g of protein and ~400 calories for $1.
Add fries to the oven and you almost have a complete meal. Just need a veggie, like broccoli.
Ah yes the quick and easy meal that'll add two hours to an already shity day
2... hours? My oven is pretty weak, but they're ready in 35 minutes if I include fries. The fries take longer.
Compared to getting in my car and waiting in line, it's about the same time. The real benefit though comes from the fact that I don't have to tend to it constantly. While I'm getting food at a restaurant, I can't be doing something else.
Seriously, give it a shot. You may be surprised.
If that's too much for you, you can make your own meatball subs. I can give instructions if you're interested, but it's pretty easy to figure out how. You can use your microwave, too. It's much faster.
Remaining restaurants remove 'Rat Soup' from the menu
Caught in a real rat act.
They should import some Louisiana alligators to deal with the rat problem. When the alligators become an invasive species, add Alligator Sauce Piquante to the menu. Problem solved.
Sukyia... ehehehe
Japanese clothing company FUCTARD also went out-of-business... 🥲
