I am doing some review for farm robotics and I stumbled upon that project, which I thought was pretty cool. I have met the people who are doing it 6 years ago, when they described themselves as "hippies working off the sustainability budget of Sony Research" and looks like now they manage to live off public European funding and open sourced their designs.

Hmm, constantly turning over the top soil like that seems bad for erosion, especially in outdoor fields.

It is probably lighter than a human and probably a more distributed mass.

I meant their method to mechanically turn over the top soil to kill weeds. You can see it in the video.

Ah yes. I think their main subject is identifying plants and navigation. Tools can easily be changed. From pushing down weeds below the surface to delivering a micro-dose of aimed weedkillers, there are many ways.

I imagined a robotic auto-plucker, but what we got is a little rotary tiller thingy. Still cool, but not what I was hoping for. Lol
