CHAPTER 7 Curses

These are from an archeology textbook about ancient Christian Ritual Magic. I skipped some because these are my favorites so far. Also I can't get over the transition from the spells for horny men to the spells about women trying to get rid of the horny men (although I'm a little miffed that they stuffed them all into one chapter when the horny men each got their own individual ones). Honestly though most of the positive things I gain from reading ancient spiritual texts is just the reassurance that humanity hasn't fundamentally changed. My mother always acted like older times were simpler and purer. No, no they were not.

First provide the poison and later sell the antidote.

Just for science, if course, please provide more information about spells for men to obtain male lovers...

I included a link to the book if you're that interested!

so, did you get a girlfriend?

Eh. I'm more into dudes for the most part. Imma Kinsey one-ish if you go by my birth / assigned gender (don't really have much of one currently). #84 is closer to my needs than anything else here, but even that isn't a really good fit.

I texted this to an older feminine person who didn't enlarge to see the last line. Their reply: all curses 🤬

😂🤣😂

Why are the references formatted like scientific studies, lol?

[–] Apytele@sh.itjust.works 19 points 6 days ago

Because they're actual archeological documents. This is intended to be an archeological reference book, not a magic book (although you could choose to read it that way).

Ancient Christian Magic is an academic source text, essentially an "encyclopedic" source of academic translations of real ancient sources with additional analysis by the listed scholars. The goal of the text is not for you to perform these spells yourself (good luck finding the required ingredients, like crocodile liver), but rather to use for study reference.

That being said, this book is great and I pull it off my shelf and read it to people more than any other scholarly text I own. Something about Christianity and Magic gets people riled up, especially when they find out it mostly just so people can have better sex!
