Install jellyfin

Plex configuration is finished

If Jellyfin had PlexAmp I'd switch in an instant.

If you are running Android, Symfonium is REALLY close to Plexamp. I use both with Android Auto.

Thanks for the pointer. I'll check it out.

Great; how do I do that on my TV? Xbox? Ps5? Firestick?

Router like openwrt connected to tailscale, devices connected to router.

Nope; how do I “use tailscale” on those devices directly?

Bonus points if the directions are easy enough for a grandmother to follow.

That wasn't what you asked "Nope" even though my comment was correct. It was a suggestion for how to achieve even more privacy for self hosted services don't use it if it's too complicated not really my problem.

I asked how I do it on my devices. I didn’t ask how to do it at the network level.

Again, how do I load tailscale onto my devices (TV / Xbox / PS5 / Firestick) directly?

I’ll save you the trouble; you can’t. But you already knew that and don’t want to answer that. You’ll move those goal posts from NY to CA if you have to.

Which is what I hate; so many people online throw out an answer like it’s the be all end all answer and if you can’t make it work then you’re an idiot or bought the wrong hardware.

I use tailscale on my firestick. The only reason I went with firestick is because I could.

Xbox and PS are kinda crappy anyways so....

The firestick is too. And at this point I can't recommend anything amazon. But it does run tailscale, and YouTube without ads so there is that. And they are what, $20 at most these days?

Correct you can't run it on most devices directly. When you again didn't say directly you said "how do I"so I assumed you were asking how you'd get your Xbox for example on tailscale for Plex to run on all your devices.

To enable your devices running though it you need to do it on a network level similar to most vpns. It is a network software.

It wasn't a be all end all I was adding to the suggestions in the post. Using tailscale would allow you to access your local network securely and is easier than reverse proxy for most

Goalposts were what you were moving adding about your nan and generally being a bit of a dick rather than us having a decent convo. That's the bit that makes me think your an idiot instant aggression with the sort of Comms I thought I'd left behind when I left Reddit.

This has been a right laugh

And another one’s gone and another one’s gone. Another one bites the dust.

  • Firestick has tailscale, not sure about the other devices.
  • You can use subnet routing feature of tailscale for devices that don't have tailscale.

Jellyfin is superior but just clarifying the above things.

Then you can use the subnet routing feature.
