Despite all of the power and capital behind Tesla, this is not the kind of battle they want to fight in the EU. They're used to US courts siding with businesses over workers but Germany doesn't jive that way.

If there is any paper trail at all, they stand no chance in court. They wouldn't be the first American company learning that the hard way in Europe.

the company is now suspending wages and threatening to demand repayment, as announced by the aforementioned letter. Tesla is also asking employees to voluntarily share their diagnoses, an odd move since workers have no obligation to disclose their medical situations and employers in Germany are not allowed to ask.
