But as a rookie (on linux) I am nervous of having to install flatpack... and i don't know how else to install it. So for now i am sticking with 2,10

I am on Linux Mint Cinnamon, and was able to install it from the software manager, through flatpack. (I'm a rookie with Linux too, got started one month ago, or so).

Have you been able to update to Gimp 3 though?

Yes, I have downloaded it successfully.

Interesting.. I must check again. I did not seem to find gimp 3 in the software manager
