Ahh, “Weev” is a four-letter version of “Weave” the same way “Chex” is a shortened “Checkerboard”, perhaps referring to the Ralston Purina checkerboard logo.

I think you're right. Cookie = Sweetdisk I can see, but Crisp and Chomp are pretty different.
I first understood the 'earlier consciousness' to mean he was born earlier and hence felt he had right to the cereal of choice
