Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

To everyone outside that shithole of a country: for the love of fuck stop visiting the US unless you have a reason. Its clear border security can do whatever the fuck they want with impunity. It isnt worth the risk. Let the country rot and leave them.

I’m a citizen and was planing to go to china for work to visit our office there. I have no concerns about China but I have major concerns about coming back to the US from china and being investigated be border “security” about why I was in china. This is insane.

[–] formulaBonk@lemm.ee 15 points 11 months ago (1 children)

That’s because the us is so filled with morons they can’t even do authoritarianism right. Legit not a single fucking brain cell involved in right winger bullshit. It’s all just morons being morons

And this is the scary part. They are not "competently evil", they are just brute forcing it.

Scared to think what would/will happen if a really competent cunt gets in power.

It is likely you are mistaken. These border agents will have to attend court given the details of this altercation.

[–] PlaidBaron@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

We'll see if they do.

Note that this guy is a white European. White Americans, they're coming for you sooner than later. I hope you're clear on that.

[–] callcc@lemmy.world 18 points 11 months ago

He's gay too, though.

We are well aware.

Good news is that the Nazis are still approaching this in the same way they did in the 1930s, so the most vulnerable at the moment are immigrants and visitors.

But, now that they are going after all immigrants and visitors, that means natural born citizens are very soon. "Sanctuary Cities" are targets, but any state with one that is being protected is probably safer longer term.

I've noticed is that the Nazis have been rather quiet about chronic health disorders and disabilities, aside from the "Make Americans Healthy Again" statement. That alarms me a great deal.

I'm a white middle-aged male on SSDI, Medicaid/Medicare, and renting a HUD apartment. The only thing going for me right now is I'm heterosexual. As a member of Elon's "parasite" class, I'm figuring I'll be homeless or in a "camp" in an unknown location within 3 - 6 months -- if not sooner.

Totally not freaking the fuck out. Nope, not one bit. /s

[–] Cargon@lemmy.ml 1 points 11 months ago

If you can take one out with you when they come for you, civilization might have a chance.

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 7 points 11 months ago

It's okay, America will think about rising up once half of them are dead in camps. They won't go ahead with it, but they might consider it before realising it's not following the decorum.

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 3 points 11 months ago

He's gay and not Peter Thiel. Probably comfortable, without that amount of ~~bribe~~ donation money, political preference unknown.

[–] PunnyName@lemmy.world 25 points 11 months ago

Welcome to America: where we can torture you first, before it's determined illegal (and even then, barely or no repercussions).

[–] jeffw@lemmy.world 25 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Another one? Crazy that they can detain lawful permanent residents

[–] Redditsux@lemmy.world 24 points 11 months ago (1 children)

There was no justification. And he was mistreated and hospitalized as a consequence.

[–] formulaBonk@lemm.ee 4 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

Wonder if he had a gun and shot them on being illegally detained there would be a case for him? Cause it’s starting to seem that green card holders should only travel with guns if possible in case they get abducted by overzealous morons in immigration. If immigration agents got shot for trying to abduct people they’d think fucking twice (if they had any brain cells in the first place)

[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 5 points 11 months ago

If immigration agents got shot for trying to abduct people they’d think fucking twice (if they had any brain cells in the first place).

The brain cells they have wouldn’t make them think twice, it’d make them shoot first. These are cops with even less oversight don’t forget.

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 15 points 11 months ago

Not "crazy". Fucking unacceptable and must be stopped as soon as possible. That distinction matters.

[–] RandAlThor@lemmy.ca 16 points 11 months ago

I saw his mother's post a couple days ago on social media. Since I couldn't find a news story about it, I thought maybe it's fake news like so much that proliferates on social media. Nope. It's real.

[–] FirstCircle@lemmy.ml 13 points 11 months ago (1 children)

All right out of Stalin's playbook. First you arrest them, then you hold them indefinitely in jail without contact with the outside world. During this time you torture them until they confess to whatever made-up "crime" you accuse them of, and preferably falsely rat out others who the torturers want to give the same treatment to. Then you sentence them to decades of "hard labor" in a remote camp, and to more torture. Sentencing done by a non-judicial, non-accountable administrative tribunal whose primary job is producing "guilty" verdicts in order to meet their quotas.

Apply this method to the weakest first, and then to the working classes (including veterans) and then to the middle- and upper-classes (administrators and engineers and military leaders and especially "intellectuals"), rinse and repeat, until you've got yourself a society composed of individuals who live in utter terror of Uncle Elon and Tusk, and of being arrested themselves. Members of that society will never step out of line, will never be a threat to the regime.

Here's a first-hand description of how it works : https://archive.org/details/TheGulagArchipelago-Threevolumes/The-Gulag-Archipelago__vol1__I-II__Solzhenitsyn/

[–] Ferrous@lemmy.ml 1 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

That playbook is literally how the US justice system has worked since pretty much the beginning. Our constitution explicitly enshrines the right to keep slaves.

And calling the Gulag Archipeligo a "first hand account" is laughable. That book is basically folklore and rumors.

[–] PurpleSkull@lemm.ee 11 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Feels like they are targeting Germans specifically. Strange.

[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 2 points 11 months ago

Betcha it’s only the non-AFD ones.

[–] CherryBullets@lemmy.ca 4 points 11 months ago

I hope my partner will be fine going back. He came here on Vacation while shit was going down and now he has to go back to the US soon. Shit is scary and I'm really worried.
