Piefed's source code is also hosted on Codeberg!

There's probably a meme that someone could make showing an Internet user who is fed up with every site asking them if they want to install an app, but then also not liking that a website isn't trying to get you to install an app. It's server-side rendering baby! It's the latest old-new-old thing! (technology is cyclical, as everyone knows).

[–] mesamunefire@piefed.social 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

It's a cycle for sure. At work people are talking about micro services again. It's like the third time.

The issue is engineering to hype. Just use microservices or monoliths where they make sense. Same goes for cloud and onprem/etc, nixos or ansible or terraform or whatever.

Mixing modes always sucks, but not as badly as kludging a terrible architecture onto something that doesn't suit it.

It's resume driven development 🤪

Haha, well that I always approve of when im doing it and hate when other people do it.

Using pre-rendering and calling myself a full-stack dev.

This post is very Informative, I just learned about the 4 unique features Piefed has over Lemmy!

Someone should make a Mbin version of this.

There's one started, but it only works with a couple instances for now, and is very much in beta

https://codeberg.org/freamon/pferd/src/branch/develop/releases/pferd.apk

Its a fork of thunder though which is my favorite client :)

This is so true!

oh, right, that's why I don't have a piefed account

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 4 points 11 months ago

I guess it’s just for desktop use for now.

Am I the only one who read 'piefed' as 'peefd'

[–] ElectroVagrant@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

I appreciate all of these features from Piefed. With that said, add a pie in the face to the bottom image for: the name.

Naming things well is hard

*stares at ActivityPub itself and other software using it, and the term fediverse*

I think the best name I've heard recently is https://blorpblorp.xyz/

Kind of funny, because the project itself looks really nice
