This isn't a meme. It's a screenshot of a conversation.

[–] Vitaly@feddit.uk 30 points 11 months ago (1 children)

It's quite funny actually so I consider it a meme

[–] red_bull_of_juarez@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 11 months ago (1 children)

My guy thinks meme means image macro

[–] Lemjukes@lemm.ee 5 points 11 months ago

Or rage comic

You’re a screenshot of a conversation

I hear you but I feel like the definition of a meme has changed with time and I thought it would add some fun because I have a heap more so my plan was to just post one a day.

[–] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 10 months ago (1 children)

What are you saying here, guy?

[–] Venator@lemmy.nz 2 points 10 months ago
[–] anzo@programming.dev 0 points 11 months ago

Huh? I think you're on the wrong meme...

[–] arken@lemmy.world 17 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

I'd love to understand this joke, could someone explain?

[–] SmoothLiquidation@lemmy.world 45 points 11 months ago (5 children)

Dublin is in Ireland, not Great Britain. There was a whole kerfuffle about it.

[–] nialv7@lemmy.world 33 points 11 months ago (2 children)

And car bombs were involved.

[–] MDCCCLV@lemmy.ca 9 points 11 months ago

No, the Irish war of independence was 1916-1920 and was mostly fighting with guns. The car bombs was much later during the troubles and was about northern Ireland.

[–] Venator@lemmy.nz 4 points 10 months ago

He did say there was a kerfuffle.

[–] gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 9 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

‘Twas only a spot of Troubles

[–] executivechimp@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 11 months ago

The Kerfuffles. Plural.

[–] arken@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Oh, of course...but why the car? Because there's a car bomb, IRA-style?

[–] khannie@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago
[–] GeneralEmergency@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Not to be that guy. But Great Britain refers to mainline England, Scotland, Wales. The term you're looking for is the United Kingdom.

[–] SmoothLiquidation@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago (1 children)

The original post said “name a place in Britain”

[–] GeneralEmergency@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

Britain is the geographical location. The United Kingdom is the country.

Hence the full name of The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

[–] Vandals_handle@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

Mainline, Scotland. What is Trainspotting? I'll take plot-lines in two words for $500 Alex.

[–] Marighost@lemm.ee 16 points 11 months ago

The IRA would've loved Teslas.

I've heard your mother's bedroom is quite a popular destination

[–] Omgboom@lemmy.zip 6 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Your mom is in there every other night

[–] Aggravationstation@feddit.uk 2 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Yes, we have to take it in turns.

[–] SmackemWittadic@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

England

...is my city?

[–] ShinkanTrain@lemmy.ml 8 points 11 months ago (1 children)
[–] edgemaster72@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago

Or do. I'm not the police of car starting.
