State funded media works only if the state isn't owned and controlled by private interests

Whenever big money is involved in any scheme no matter what you call it or how you organize it, it will always bend to the rule of those with all the wealth

Sure, so Socialism remains the best way forward.

Social democracy .... it's a constant balance that everyone has to fight for perpetually so that we can have enough for the people at the bottom while reigning in those at the top from wanting to enslave everyone else.

It's about managing human greed because any time you give power to one group of people, no matter who they are, they will inevitably want to control everyone else.

The reason why most government or societal systems haven't worked is due to the human greed. Remove human greed and you have a chance at running a more equitable system for everyone.

Social Democracy doesn't solve the fundamental problems with Capitalism, it just band-aids them. In the Nordics, these countries rely on Imperialism and usury through IMF loans to sustain themselves, and still see fundamental problems with Capitalism such as the Tendency for the Rate of Profit to Fall. Socialism does solve these problems.

As for whether or not Modes of Production have "worked," they generally have, but only within the context of their own development. Feudalism wasn't simply an idea we tried out, but a specific form of production that arose from real material conditions. Further, human greed isn't the problem either, rather certain systems express that to greater or lesser degrees.

The journalistic dilemma:

  • it needs money to pay the journalists to find out what's going on;
  • the money that owns the news dictates what should or should not be found out.
