Stop fucking going to Reddit!!

There is nothing for you there except bots and dead accounts.

Honestly there are one or two communities I was helping keeping alive so they don’t go to Twitter, but it seems that’s happened to one and the other is… not worth it anymore.

The real boring dystopia is the ~~friends~~ warnings and bans we accumulated along the way

They could lean into sarcasm:“don’t forget to tip your landlord”. Or just Koalang it, coming up with an ever-shifting system of allegorical codewords (“green Mario” could probably last for a week or so before the river crabs catch on).

“don’t forget to tip your landlord”.

Guaranteed some people will take that seriously.

  1. This still broadly prevents any slogan from reaching critical mass
  2. Eventually, most people are going to be afraid to even try. Self-censorship is actually worse than actual censorship, because it's insidious and invisible.

Banning for upvotes is the most ludicrous way to censor a forum ever.

It lowers engagement. It makes people not want to upvote.

Let's start a new t protest, downvote everything.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 13 points 1 year ago

now they are also targeting the word luigi, which is more ridiculous

[–] brucethemoose@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Very much intentional, as with any song advocating for "violence"

[–] locolangosta@lemm.ee 17 points 1 year ago

Hey, at least my ban brought me over here. Their blatant attempts to quell desent shows alot. Shoulda got out when they started putting ads in the comments, but watching them protect billionaires from criticism, more than they do minorities from racism is eye opening.

Let’s not mince words, let’s mince the wealthy instead - quicker, and much more nutritious

For profit social media platforms are npt your friend.

As with for-profit newspapers and news agencies, they are biased more towards the ownership classn than the proletariat. They might present left-wing stories and positions, but never enough that it threatens their property and profit gains.

The same with politicians who have to raise money to campaign. Even liberals cannot ever push for policy that serves the public but not the ownership interests.
