To be clear, it's a single representative from Michigan introducing the legislation. Still sucks, but it's not the consensus view of the state government by any means.

Did they forget that this one was passed as a law?

As in beyond that point it wasn't "merely an interpretation" that can be overturned like many of the social progress cases the Warren Court had made.

Supreme Court can just say the law was unconstitutional even though that's bull shit.
