What's the source for the obviously biased article about the twisted women? Takes me back to when they called protesters "thugs" during the Floyd protests.

[–] taiyang@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago

Oh, that 100% tracks from that rag. By comparison, a similar article from NPR was a lot more careful about it, e.g. "Mangione has received widespread public support, despite state and federal officials discouraging it." Good lesson in identifying bias.

NPR even had the message Luigi sent out thanking his supporters, which I think is nice.

Agnifilo argues against this decision. He is a model prisoner

The way the clothes they wear are flying off the shelves, and Luigi's outstanding photogenic quality, you bet they're a model prisoner.

All just ammo for the appeal.

The shooter calmly walked away, and Luigi was arrested calmly in a McDonald's.

At no stage was there some crazy escape or shootout where something like this would be warranted in court, and things like this have been argued to have influenced potential jury members in past cases.

Like, it's one straw on a giant pile of better examples so far, but it all adds up. They're gonna OJ this shit and go so hard it ends in a mistrial or something crazy.

Especially since the trial is going to be a media circus and Trump won't be able to keep his nose out of it, it'll kill him that he won't be the main attraction.

The thing is, support for Luigi crosses party lines. It might be what causes a maga fracture if everything falls right.

There's not going to be a mistrial. This is going to be the most cooked trial you've ever seen in your life. Every single juror is going to vote guilty no matter what happens. Through bribery or threats it will happen. You can book it.

[–] electricyarn@lemmy.world 28 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's improbable that there won't be jury tampering, but the public support for this fella is pretty hard to deny.

The way they've handled him you'd think they were hauling the Joker in and out of court or something.

[–] Maeve@midwest.social 14 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I don't think so. It's all a show, for us to be afraid of our consequences, rather than reflecting on institutions and systems, and the consequences of those collective actions.

[–] carl_dungeon@lemmy.world 104 points 1 year ago (1 children)

What are they worried about, there a lot of CEOs in the courtroom?

[–] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago

He made it pretty far on foot after the murder, so there is that.

[–] morrowind@lemmy.ml 93 points 1 year ago

I didn't know how, but he's managed to make even this look classy

[–] PlainSimpleGarak@lemmings.world 52 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I don't have much love for this cat, but they are treating him like he's this deranged, blood thirsty serial killer who eats people. He murdered someone. Happens every day. The elites are really trying to send a message.

Damn. That courtroom artist is basically saying all LM would have to do is signal his supports and they'd rush for him. Wild.

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

Honestly I won't even begrudge them that. Who was the last accused murderer with as much popular support as him?

Their reaction is where all the value of his act is at.

He rattled their cage while making maintaining a calm demeanor and commanding support across the political circle jerk.

Look, I'm down with his attitude to CEOs, but I just can't get on board with the "everyone must see my ankles" club. I'm out.

Why is nobody talking about how dirty that power strip is? And one of the plugs isn't all the way seated. That thing poses more danger than Luigi.

[–] Olgratin_Magmatoe@slrpnk.net 14 points 1 year ago

We got Luigi feet pics before GTA6

No socks though! My feet are feeling cold just looking at them!

[–] Monzcarro@feddit.uk 16 points 1 year ago

My dad (who is wearing near identical shoes as I write this) will tell you that you don't wear socks with these. I wouldn't call him an authority on style though.
