A nice place to discuss rumors, happenings, innovations, and challenges in the technology sphere. We also welcome discussions on the intersections of technology and society. If it’s technological news or discussion of technology, it probably belongs here.

Instead of protests at dealerships, they should be dismantling factories.

Meh. Demonstrations are useless. What change will come from random people making noise for a day?

[–] melp@beehaw.org 32 points 11 months ago (2 children)

They do build momentum. Obviously public executions of billionaires is what we all want, though.

Remember the war on drugs or the war on terror? Both creates more drugs and more terror.

What are you saying? The war on billionaires will create more billionaires?

[–] 1984@lemmy.today 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Haha I didnt think of that, but possibly :)

No i meant more that hating those people and killing them will not get rid of them. The entire end goal of capitalism is to take as much as you can. The end goal is monopoly. At least in unrestricted capitalism like the US.

You need legal changes to handle that, not going after the people who became billionaries. More of them are growing right now in that system.

If you're suggesting we change the system from within, I've got bad news: We've been trying that. It hasn't been working. The purpose of the system is what it does, and what this system does is rob us of representation.

Reckless hate and murder won't fix a damn thing, you're correct there. But neither will reliance on voting in a rigged system.

That's a party! I'll bring zesty beverages.

Depends how big they get. A few stray bricks could cost Tesla a lot of money and who cares if a Nazi loses money?

Why would someone need to prove who they are for a social media site?

[–] AntiBullyRanger@ani.social 6 points 11 months ago

They don't. It's the social media owner trying to exploit the person.

[–] melp@beehaw.org 3 points 11 months ago

Well, well, well. How the turntables have my.

[–] Korhaka@sopuli.xyz 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Why would you submit personal documentation for social media?

[–] AntiBullyRanger@ani.social 3 points 11 months ago

I don't? I'm not Laura Jane Grace. I already answered the tyrannical hypothetical if you're asking: https://ani.social/post/9478577/8576050

[–] madame_gaymes@programming.dev 8 points 11 months ago

I've been wondering the same. I think I'm in the 1-2 year mark currently.

Sounds like a good time for a black block
