This is kinda like a kid saying he and his friends are gonna beat up the bad man and save the world and stop the wars.

Like it's cute or whatever, but wtf are you going to do? You want me to actually believe you?

That seems ... unlikely. People love corporate propaganda, why would they leave their propaganda platforms? At best, they'd leave for some other bullshit platform, just look at how they are leaving xitter for bluesky instead of mastodon.

Fediverse has extreme UX issues for basic users. Not to mention the awkward names.

That seems to be the main issue. They have millions or even billions of dollars to invest in a nice UI. We have volunteers and developers who have a day job. Hard to compete.

Always the same.

"The Fediverse in its entirety is objectively unuseable and repulsive unless it invests $100M into corporate-level UIs and corporate-level branding/brand design. What do you mean, the Fediverse doesn't have $100M?"

Just another sub-million-user wildflower service that will bloom and wither and die and be forgotten at the end of the season.

friendica is not usable like that for most idk how it even replaces facebook, I do like how it shows lemmy threads with the comments on the feed

You gotta search and sub to every community you want to see, the feed is so nice to browse tho, its worth the time spent, I use friendica when at my pc and lemmy apps on my phone now

First mention of Flohmarkt in a meme! The Fediverse needs more commercial offerings like that. Unfortunately, it does seem like it needs a critical mass of users to work but it has a regional focus, so it might work best bolted onto a regional instance with a built-in audience. I'm just unsure if it'd work on a countrywide basis or if it'd need to be on a city or county level and we don't yet have the numbers in the Fediverse for that.
