No. You can't smell over the Internet, anyway.

I always felt like the smiling emoticon looks a little cheeky when it has a nose: :-)

So, sometimes I use it precisely for that purpose, like when I'm making a cheeky joke, but yeah, usually I'm using :) and similar instead.

Usually not :) But I prefer to use to use emojis anyway 🤷 🫴 It just feels like progress, no more ascii workarounds ⬆️

[–] qprimed@lemmy.ml 9 points 2 years ago

ASCII is a like

a state of mind, man! :-)

Cause it looks weird without it

The most "complete"/full body one that I ever use still doesn't include a nose, so no:

:)G<

you sick bastard masturbating in public?! /s

[–] Worx@lemmynsfw.com 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Ain't nobody got time for that

I feel like emoticon use tells your age. Old people use noses. Regular people use no noses. Young people use emoji 🤮

[–] Syd@lemm.ee 3 points 2 years ago

It's everyone else that's weird, ok?

[–] Annoyed_Crabby@monyet.cc 5 points 2 years ago

Nose is such a weird thing in emoji and it's too big anyway. Unless it's indicating smell or something i wouldn't use it. ¯\_( ´ _ `)_/¯

The thing that bothered me was my left-handed friend who typed them "backwards"

[–] makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 years ago

I read years and years ago that a study was done, that when confronted with emoji (then called emoticons), a viewer felt a stronger attachment to those with a nose :-/ than one without a nose :/

Since then, always noses for me! :-#

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 3 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

I always thought this one looked goofy as hell:

:-)

[–] Dirk@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 years ago

On some I do, but mostly no.

[–] RedStrider@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

[–] sunbrrnslapper@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Is that even an option? I do not currently, but it seems like a good n thing to enable on your spouse's phone...

[–] Ephera@lemmy.ml 6 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

They don't mean emojis: 🙂 🫤 ☹️
but rather emoticons: :) :/ :(

And there you can have noses: :-) :-/ :-(

[–] BlueGlasses@lemmy.world 8 points 2 years ago (1 children)

My classmate once sent me this: ÷)

Honestly took me a while for me to undestand what it is
