This individual got the joke.

[–] Rooty@lemmy.world 18 points 1 year ago (3 children)

I thought the punchline is that he's a bear with a job.

[–] Nasan@sopuli.xyz 5 points 1 year ago

Or that his job put a glass ceiling on him by giving him a promotion opportunity they expected him to blow.

It happens more often than you think. There's an old German song about a bear who accidentally gets a job in a factory they built above his cave one winter. When he roams around the factory after waking up they mistake him for an unshaved, lazy worker and put him in front of a machine to do some tedious work.

It's basically the opposite story to the one in this comic.

no no, it's that he sleeps completely naked except for that nightcap

This individual knows how to type comments into a keyboard

Forget which color you using for the bear? I know you were trying to make it a darker room with blanded colors in panel 2, but it looks like an entirely different bear.

Don't they change color after hibernating?

[–] ColeSloth@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I dunno, but right now he's one color at the entrance, a different one getting into bed to hibernate, and then the third color when he wakes up.

[–] TriflingToad@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I think that's just the lighting

[–] ColeSloth@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 1 year ago

It's supposed to be the lighting, but it looks too different for a cartoon.

The first and final frames are roughly the same color. He's backlit in the first frame, so you have to compare to the shadow color in the final frame.

In frame 2, the dress is white and gold.

Yeah it took me a good 3-4 read throughs to establish it was the same bear and not 2-3 different ones competing for the same promotion. Though I might just be exceedingly slow today.

[–] ColeSloth@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Nope. Took me about the same. Unless we're both slow today.

Luckily I still got it!

Why is that the mommy bear appears in the comic but also the bed is too small for the whole family? Are you indicating the mommy sleeps alone?

[–] Katana314@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

What are you talking about? There’s two of them and the bed is just big enough for them.
