Yes. You are pointing out an issue of perspective, which is likely more pronounced due to the use of a wider angle lens for this shot. You cannot use the background for size judgments, just like you cannot hold your thumb up to a distant mountain and judge them to be the same size.
For a size estimation you need something thatβs on the same plane, parallel to the lens, within the photo, such as the prop over the left fins on the side. One blade of that prop is roughly a forearmβs length, for reference.
