Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Gov. Tim Walz on Wednesday agreed to participate in a vice presidential debate hosted by CBS News on Oct. 1 in New York City.

Former President Donald Trump's campaign has not yet agreed to the date, leaving GOP Sen. JD Vance's participation in question.

Nah, just gotta use granny's plastic couch cover.

[–] NegativeInf@lemmy.world 13 points 2 years ago

Ok, someone needs to sell a brand of this as Couch Condoms and donate the proceeds to voter registration programs.

That's no good, he is used to that texture already.

Vance's eyeliner is so distracting, who convinced him it was a good idea?

I wonder how far back you have to go to find a pic without it.

The beard really was a good fashion decision on his part.

Unlike the eyeliner.

What’s the inset picture of?

Francis Buxton from Pee Wees Big Adventure

[–] CynicRaven@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago

This guy from Peewee's Big Adventure. I figure because of a bit of resemblance to Vance.

[–] modifier@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 years ago

Oh yeah? Where are they hosing him down?

[–] bobs_monkey@lemm.ee 15 points 2 years ago (1 children)

He forgot to take it off from his college crossdressing escapades

[–] eestileib@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 years ago

Yeah he's definitely wearing it in that pic.

Eyeliner makes you more attractive, it's just a fact and I'm proud of JD for putting his best self forward. Shame on y'all for trying to bully him over it.

Unfortunately, that best still sucks, and not in the way the guyliner would make you think.

[–] eestileib@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That eyeliner is not making that guy more attractive.

Compare to his beard, which 100% makes him more attractive.

I'm sorry, but it's well established slut science.

[–] eestileib@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 years ago

Vance believes in faith-based sluttery. "Slut science" forsooth!

Its not a phase mom!

I normally can't stand to watch the debates, it's too painful for my depression-saturated brain to endure, usually. Usually.

I might make popcorn for this one though.

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 8 points 2 years ago

The Biden Trump debate was one of the most painful things I've ever watched. I'm excited for the debates with Harris and Walz though. I'm expecting them to wipe the floor with their opponents. There's no way they're going to be able to keep up.

Wouldn't it be great if the fly shows up: "Heyyyy, been waiting!"

[–] RagingRobot@lemmy.world 9 points 2 years ago

Oh I forgot the fly that was crazy lol.

Kind of like a more gross version of when that bird landed on Bernie

[–] expatriado@lemmy.world 18 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Trump campaign has not agreed yet... maybe they aren't even sure is Vance will make it to October

[–] Landless2029@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

I'm glad Tim pulled the same move that Trump tried to pull on "We agreed to debate on Fox" bullshit.

Let's see how they like it.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 13 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Heysus. After watching the whole Biden/Trump debacle, and hurting like hell, I'm all in for this one. Even more so for the Harris/Trump debate. Not going to miss a single word those nights. Pay. Back. Time.

Get your popcorn ready just in case
