It’s a simple story:

Trump wanted “Election Integrity”.

Our good lil boy Gov. Tater Tot directed the state to clean up the rolls and tighten the system.

SOS Watson then contracted with Experian for their data to verify public information. Experian’s data is dog ass.

Earlier this year the MS poll book showed a drop in hundreds of thousands of names. This data is available for a small fee from the SOS office.

Who do you think is more likely to have incorrect digital data? Older folk and poorer black folk. Both voted in large numbers this time.

So now these avadavidts have to be verified by hand and because of kowtowing to Trump there are a TON of them.

However I have some cautious hope that they caused all of this and it won’t be enough. It will be their undoing and the real purple Mississippi that I’ve lived in my whole life will have a chance.

PS: Fuck you Tate Reeves

I always assumed it was because they couldn't count. This makes much more sense.

Mail in votes are counted by hand and verified by humans so it slows down a lot after that first night. Unlike the voter machines which is just a computer doing ++ and then compiling the numbers.

[–] psycho_driver@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The gap (which is still quite small) has only been widening since yesterday.

[–] arrow74@lemmy.zip 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Only a difference of 138 votes

It was around 50 this time yesterday morning, the current AP numbers are up to 1150.

1,724 according to apnews.com at this moment. :)

Every time I look the numbers have crept up.

[–] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

I keep checking it and watching it slowly creep up like this has been amazing. I still cant believe its even a possibility.

The only reason I can spell Mississippi is that there was a song in an old Warner Bros. cartoon.

Yeah that's how I remember it. I've never heard this song in my life.

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 8 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Stupid American here.

I just read that in the angry German voice and cracked myself up.

Thanks.

Maybe he means this one?

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

My god... I could have gone the rest of my life not remembering that!

[–] DakRalter@thelemmy.club 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

I learnt it from Alvin and the Chipmunks iirc.

M I, double S, I double S, I double P, I.

I could spell it, but I didn't know what it was.

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I was too young to ever do it, but those 'follow the bouncing ball' songs must have been a lot of fun back in the day.

The early movies used a lot of vaudeville/music hall ideas.

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 1 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

No.

I never saw that show.

Back in the day, the cartoons that ran between movies would often have a song with the lyrics shown as subtitles.

Sorry, I was just messing about. That show was my earliest memory of the bouncing ball on songs, and your comment reminded me of it.

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 1 points 12 hours ago

It's all good.

[–] twitchingbits@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Alaska's US Senate race is similarly close with the Democrats currently in a narrow lead

10 fingers, 10 toes.
