Russel is getting in a very tricky position at Mercedes. The 'natural' new leader of the post-Hamilton era sees his very young teammate pass him by on all sides...

The mental impact of what is unfolding now must be huge for Russel.

he always had an entitlement problem. Assumed he was team leader because he was British.

Or because he had seniority with the team?

It’s like the dude is cursed. Remember when he subbed for Hamilton. He could’ve easily gotten his first win then. But for some reason the entire team performed like donkey ass that race. Like it was an omen for the rest of his career.

I would argue that Kimi was already the select first driver since before he came to F1, and Russell was a stopgap until the rookie could get some experience. If Russell wasn’t aware that he can’t keep up with the best, it’s on him.

Brings back memories of Alonso vs. Hamilton in 2007. They were more closely matched than Kimi and Russel, though.

George is still ahead on total career whingeing

Whinging or whining?
