"I said, 'Sundar, I'm thinking of the Atlantic Ocean. Can you handle it?'

"'No, no, no, this time I'm not doing it,' he said, 'Oceans are different, sir. They cover a lot of - really a lot of countries. Please don't ask us to do that.'"

The US president later said he would "probably pass" and keep the name Atlantic, before saying, "We're going to call it the American Ocean".

Totally unrelated: toddlers test adults boundaries. Once the adult give up on a boundary, that is a given and they would put a tantrum if they don’t keep in getting their way.

What it’s worse is that they will move to the next boundary and repeat the same.

In general I would say for toddler is better to set clear and firm boundaries so that a lot of tantrum and screaming are saved.

But what was the article about, again?

Please do it...rename the sun.

The stellar body or the conservative rag?

[–] SippyCup@lemmy.world 1 points 13 hours ago

I'd be ok with either.

[–] FE80@lemmy.world 1 points 16 hours ago

Whichever is funnier.

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 1 points 16 hours ago

I thought the former was part of the latter - found on the third page, perhaps

There's this, lusting over Republican candidate asses, and bragging about finding a giraffe in a kid's drawing.

  1. No one around him is able to give him a filter to not say dumb shit that makes him look bad.
  2. Like 2020 election, he can't lie his way about corruption/destruction of America (Covid management was bad) promising to undo it. So he has to talk about "nothing".

Flexing on the world, for no gain, does show how cowardly and sycophantic that world is and continues to be. It's still late stage empire behaviour and collapse acceleration.

Only India has an Ocean. I bet Trump can't sleep on this.

[–] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 0 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Antarctica also has one, showing even ice cubes have more oceans than America does lol.

[–] fyzzlefry@retrolemmy.com 3 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Holy shit. Is that what this is about?

[–] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 0 points 10 hours ago

Personally, I think not. I think he's just trolling and rage baiting with the name changes. Also some distracting.

But that doesn't mean he's immune to counter trolling. Not that I think Lemmy is even on his radar, so it's more imaginary counter trolling.

Any body of water named Trump better have a handle to flush.

[–] thisisbutaname@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Oh don't worry. Sooner or later Trump will have a public toilet with his name on it, like the Thatcher one

[–] nilloc@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 20 hours ago

Both toilets in our house will have plaques.

What else are 3D printers for?

Australian here.

We just named a memorial pool after our leader when it happened to us.

[–] itslola@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

Not just the pool. We also named a Naval Comms Station after him.

Never been sure whether this combo of memorials was down to our culture's perverse sense of humour, or just pragmatic future-proofing.

[–] FatVegan@leminal.space 6 points 23 hours ago

Oh god, i hope he renames more things, so americans have their antiquated mesurement system, and a modernized geography system that no one uses except them.

[–] deadbeef79000@lemmy.nz 8 points 1 day ago
