Executives are twice as likely as rank-and-file workers to trust AI over their own judgment, per a survey out Wednesday morning.

It's a worrying development. Leaders are hired for their experience and knowledge.

Outsourcing that to AI raises the risk of making decisions that don't line up with reality, which then reverberate across companies and beyond.

This means they should never use AI because they are uniquely vulnerable to AI disinformation and likely AI pyschosis.

We need a new generation of CEO that can actually think for themselves, as bizarre as that sounds.

[–] moustachio@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

We need to move away from CEOs and capitalism.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 1 points 10 hours ago

Agreed, but we need to come up with a better system and convince people to switch.

Leaders are hired for their experience and knowledge.

[citation needed]

[–] Cherry@piefed.social 7 points 13 hours ago

So if it’s better at thinking than they are it renders them redundant

[–] DementedSociety@lemmy.world 3 points 11 hours ago

Makes perfect sense

[–] spacegoat@lemmy.world 14 points 16 hours ago

Because in their heart of hearts they know that they are skillless and worthless

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 2 points 13 hours ago

I mean, have you seen the decisions they were making without it? Probably 50:50 on C-staff

closer to the work, you have to trust the workers decisions quite a bit more.

[–] bizzle@lemmy.world 1 points 14 hours ago

That's really sad

[–] darthsundhaft@piefed.social 21 points 1 day ago (1 children)

In other words... AI has reached a point allegedly that can now replace executives. So why have them?

[–] Soup@lemmy.world 5 points 15 hours ago

Ai would certainly be cheaper, and much less emotionally unstable even given how completely fucked it is.

[–] Sanctus@anarchist.nexus 114 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Because executives are dumb as fuck

[–] FenrirIII@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

Most execs are sociopaths

[–] Kazumara@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 16 hours ago

But still, I didn't think they were aware of it, this is surprising!

leaders are hired for their experience and knowledge

Not because they’re Machiavellian wall-climbers?

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 36 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The statement is correct. Executives aren't leaders.

[–] bold_omi@lemmy.today 1 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago)

Ah, right, and leaders are always experienced and knowledgeable. Explain how that applies to hereditary rule or oligarchy, then.

[–] sundray@lemmus.org 32 points 1 day ago

Well that about wraps it up for anyone who still believed in the usefulness of executives.

[–] Quacksalber@sh.itjust.works 45 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Is there any more evidence needed to show that Managers do not deserve the outrageous pay they've been getting?

[–] variaatio@nord.pub 24 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Their decades long usage of consulting companies to be a sycophantic permission giver, since they don't want to bother making well founded good business decisions. "Don't blame me, I hired a consult and they said to do this. If decision was the wrong one, it is the consults fault. Then we hire a consult to figure out what the last consult did wrong. Then consult to consult on the consultation of the second consult on the first consults consultation". Please pay me millions and millions of dollar to be a consult hiring person. Oh and please a golden parachute promise also, in case I need to get fired pronto.

If one was able to do good decisions on ones own, is confident on those decisions and able to make the arguments to back up the decision, one wouldn't need to hire the consults to be the professional fall guys.

edit: Oh and I don't know is it really needed, but well it is evidence point that also exists. So they simply changed "consult" to "AI agent"

Coincidentally, rank-and-file workers are also twice as likely to trust AI over their executives’ judgement.

[–] GreenBeard@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago

Yes, sadly in this case, they are in fact correct in assuming the AI has better judgment than themselves. It's a very low bar to clear.

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 29 points 1 day ago (2 children)

So let the AI do their jobs and redistribute their compensation to the employees

[–] bold_omi@lemmy.today 2 points 10 hours ago

It is already doing their jobs. They need to be replaced with people selected from productive non-managerial roles at the workplace and replaced often.

[–] avidamoeba@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

In capitalism we distribute them to the shareholders. Or the AI's shareholders. Often the same.

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 1 points 16 hours ago

Make the employees shareholders then

[–] starchylemming@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)
[–] bold_omi@lemmy.today 1 points 10 hours ago

E.D. They have pills for that.

[–] Shin@piefed.social 13 points 1 day ago

Wouldn't this be some sign of AI psychosis?

[–] pootzapie@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

Guys this is it, the window we’ve been waiting for! All we need to do is inject pro union pro consumer tax paying sentiment into ai and we’re golden!! Like when they hijacked Rick santonrum’s name in google search…we did it!

[–] NewDark@lemmy.today 9 points 1 day ago

Honestly? Probably for the better on that one.
