U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle, once a top campaign surrogate for Donald Trump, has resigned amid a misconduct probe.

“Serving as the United States Ambassador to Greece has been the honor of a lifetime,” Guilfoyle said Tuesday in a post on X announcing her resignation.

She also addressed “recent allegations against me,” writing, “These allegations are false, and I intend to vigorously defend my name, my reputation, and my integrity.”

Guilfoyle’s post came shortly after new White House press secretary Katie Zacharia told reporters that Guilfoyle had been asked to step down.

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 3 points 6 hours ago

Gavin Newsom sure knows how to make good decisions.

[–] tigermountain@lemmy.world 3 points 9 hours ago

What a piece of trash this bitch is.

[–] kryptonianCodeMonkey@lemmy.world 47 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

Bro... did you guys know that she was not only Trump Jr.'s fiancée but also was MARRIED to Gavin Newsom!? Her type is apparently greasy rich white guy who is literally one of the worst people in their respective political parties who fucking hates poor people.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 26 points 17 hours ago (2 children)

I didn't know she was married to Newsom. Jesus Christ...

[–] kryptonianCodeMonkey@lemmy.world 24 points 17 hours ago (2 children)

It's all one big incestuous swamp, isn't it.

[–] bertlewirth@lemy.lol 2 points 2 hours ago

Sounds like the world’s royal families

Back when she looked human

I have some tea on her that I'd love to spill, but it'd probably doxx me.

Edit removed the last sentence

Don’t ya hate that? When you know some juicy bit about some asshole and can’t say because you are only one of a few?

[–] Raiderkev@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

Yeah, and I'm very tempted to just put it out there especially since the range of the fediverse isn't as big, but it'd likely open myself and family up to legal trouble if I do. People in Trump's circle are litigious assholes.

[–] Atelopus-zeteki@fedia.io 57 points 20 hours ago (7 children)

Must have been really bad for this administration to ask for a resignation.

[–] pulsewidth@lemmy.world 49 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Trump didn't get cut in on the deal, every mafioso knows that's not how you do business in a crime syndicate.

[–] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 4 points 9 hours ago

This. She didn’t give him his points.

[–] Malica@lemmy.zip 3 points 11 hours ago

Not really, it's a woman, the rules are different.

[–] Warl0k3@lemmy.world 21 points 20 hours ago

Nah, she's a woman and they're purging those from eeeeverything.

[–] Hapankaali@lemmy.world 16 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

I wonder what's the real reason, perhaps a feud between her and Don Jr? Surely these minor corruption allegations (by Trump admin standards) can't be it.

[–] Atelopus-zeteki@fedia.io 10 points 19 hours ago

That's what I was thinking, there must be some part to this that we just won't ever know about.

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 4 points 16 hours ago

Sounds like she took the bribe but didn't deliver.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago

Damage control. They'll repost her once the midterms are over.

[–] zd9@lemmy.world 8 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Or... she's a woman so actually has to face consequences.

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 4 points 16 hours ago

That has been a clear pattern in this administration. Kristi Noem, Pam Bondi...

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 12 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

It was for a trifling $100k? Elon's midterm donations are almost 4x that. Go big or go home.

[–] Duchess@piefed.linenoise.vip 21 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Elon’s midterm expenses that can be tracked are over 3,600x $100,000. That isn’t hyperbole.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago

Yeah, but it was a brain fart on my part. Lol

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 6 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago)

This was only one of the people that *has talked about it.

  • There's guaranteed to be more
  • He already gave 300k, and offered a million if she could get the taxes things worked out
  • He is as dumb as a bag of rocks. He admitted the bribe because she wasn't following through with her promises.
[–] chahn.chris@piefed.social 14 points 16 hours ago

Hey Kim, THE BEST - IS YET - TO COME!

[–] ProfThadBach@lemmy.world 6 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago) (14 children)

Say what you will about her politics. She is mentally ill. Just look at what she did to her face. Mo one who is not mentally health would do that to themselves. I will say this. She made the outside look like the inside.

[–] ChunkMcHorkle@lemmy.world 5 points 12 hours ago

You're not wrong.

[–] RaoulDuke25@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 9 hours ago

Fuck off. Throw her ass in jail.

Nah, this ain't the reason. She refused a BJ to someone important.

The government watchdog’s probe comes as legal consultant and longtime Donald Trump supporter and donor Eric Deters has accused Guilfoyle of asking him to pay her outstanding $100,000 American Express bill in the days before her 2025 confirmation hearing in exchange for access to senior administration officials.

That’s a plastic face if ever I saw one.
