Valve just offers such a good service with Steam.

I first check Steam before buying a game anywhere else.

GOG is a close runner-up though.

Same, then I load the game I bought on GOG in steam for convenience.

Does that mean...

Uh...

Did steam just turn 43 million people into bottoms???

Impressive.

You'd think they could afford to knock that 30% cut down a little by now.

[–] BlackAura@lemmy.world 5 points 6 days ago (1 children)

They already do. I forget the numbers but once you've sold X copies it drops maybe to 20%? Then once you've sold Y copies (where Y > X) it drops even further, say like 10%?

So that only helps mega popular games and not small ones

That's not how capitalism works. If anything, they should be increasing their prices because they have a stranglehold on the market.

I legitimately don't understand this argument.

Can you elaborate why Steam is singled out for this? Something beyond "Steam bad"?

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 2 points 6 days ago

Because Steam is the company under discussion here. I don't think Steam is bad.

Pretty sure both apple and google have been targetted for this as well, in court cases brought by epic iirc.
