Targetting these is genuinely a viable wartime strategy as Russia projects it's influence heavy through propaganda and other digital initiatives in other nations.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 27 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah, especially this close to elections...

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 12 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Don't worry, Trump will get the Russians back online soon.

[–] itisileclerk@lemmy.world 53 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

Wait, what? Twitter still exist????

[–] NotAnOtter@lemmus.org 37 points 3 weeks ago (4 children)

I'm not sure if this is a "It's called X guys" comment or a "That pile of dogshit is still online?" comment. And my upvote/downvote depends on that

[–] itisileclerk@lemmy.world 30 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

It's No 2. In every context.

Is it though? How can we tell?

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 40 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Is that also why lemmy seems so peaceful today?

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 22 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Wonder if it had a measurable effect on .ml traffic...

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 23 points 3 weeks ago (4 children)

I'm waiting for someone to say hexbear is down or something. (My instance is defederated from them and grad, so I wouldn't know).

Lets see if we can bait some of the .ml heavyweights out. I'll start:

The PRC is a hypercapitalist colonial/imperialist superpower masquerading as communism.

There. Start the timer.

Tell them? They are the ones that just got bombed. They pretty much knew before just about anyone else.

WanderWisely originally posted it and GFL thought it was good enough to repost. What’s the issue here?

[–] atomicbocks@sh.itjust.works 36 points 3 weeks ago (4 children)

Personally the issue I have is that this is what crossposting is for. Posting it over and over just takes up more space on servers that are largely paid for by donations.

[–] fonix232@fedia.io 16 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Crossposting unfortunately doesn't always work (many communities restrict it for example), and many clients still don't support it properly

Search the news for yandex strikes in russia. Bot traffic was 0.4% of previous levels from one article I read.

[–] snowdriftissue@lemmy.world 10 points 3 weeks ago

Yandex is a search engine. Their bots are just web crawlers.

Yandex is just web crawlers like the ones Google and many other companies have. Perhaps that server housed their bot farm shit too but who knows. The drop in Yandex crawling is proven with data, but the rest of this is just speculation and assumptions based on perception. It’s anecdotal.

[–] Impractical_Island@lemmy.world 18 points 3 weeks ago

Tjis is my favorite version of this meme.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 15 points 3 weeks ago

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 15 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I wonder how traffic on "Truth" Social is going right now.

I have trouble believing that. This is talking about Twitter as a monolith when it is actually thousands of isolated algorithmic bubbles

[–] ivn@tarte.nuage-libre.fr 18 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

This is about Yandex's bots, these are web crawlers. This has nothing to do with bots on X.
