Still fits.

That's what she said!

And holy fuck 2025 was a busy year for BBC controversies

20,000 complains for a racial slur, and 5x that amount for being bored with the royal family.
That does all weirdly check out for the UK, yeah

[–] kn33@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I mean, if the coverage of the royal family was at least 5x the amount they used a slur then that checks out

[–] FinjaminPoach@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago

The context of the racial slur seems to be that instead of going

"Viewer Discretion: The following clip contains racial slurs"

They went

"Viewer discretion: the following clip features the word n****r"

And I just don't know how they cocked it up. But yeah naturally more people saw the royal family thing than the one-off racial slur usage, so I don't consider it a reflection on our principles

Don’t forget they also have Children’s BBC - the sick pro regime mouthpiece that they are.

[–] cowfodder@lemmy.zip 11 points 4 days ago

This explains Jimmy Saville

What's your beef with Cbeebies?

[–] boonhet@lemmy.zip 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Well BBC is pro-israel and the Epstein pedo ring was an Israeli operation so children's BBC within the context of this meme sounds like a pedo operation

I have more than my fair share of issues with BBC news, but I can not and will not deny the fact that the BBC on the whole makes quality TV dramas, kids shows, and educational content. Nothing else comes even close

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

They vocally support genocide.

[–] tetris11@feddit.uk 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

BBC News yes, BBC programming in general? Haven't seen it

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 days ago

A fan of pedantry and the beebs? A shocking development.

[–] Noel_Skum@sh.itjust.works 2 points 4 days ago

Honestly, I don’t have any problem with the BBC - I actually think that overall it is an incredible service for the price.

There’s a lot of uneducated people around here who think and believe a lot of nonsensical rubbish about the corporation. I guess non-UK folk with no experience of working within the field, nor knowledge of what the BBC actually produces.

I think you’ve already had one answer along those lines…

Your cat emoticon has a very cute wizard hat =3

[–] RickyRigatoni@piefed.zip 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Thank you. ~<=3 now the hat has a ribbon like a princess's hennin.

[–] Catoblepas@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

TIL there’s a name for the fancy princess head cone. So much wholesome knowledge to be attained on the fediverse!

[–] X@piefed.world 3 points 4 days ago

TIL, Part 2: in French, “hennin” is apparently pronounced “EY-nu^n^h” and not “HEN-inn.”
