At a rally in Nebraska Tuesday night, President Trump told his supporters exactly what he thinks about the well-being of the American people.

Trump first said that the price of goods and services, which have gone up thanks to his ill-advised Iran war and tariff policies, were “just a little bit high. It’s a small price to pay for keeping the world safe—keeping our country safe.

“They can take out a city. Let them take, let them take out Los Angeles. Let them take out San Diego. This is a very small price to pay,” Trump said. “And it’s going to be over with very soon. It’s essentially almost over with.”

Conservative activists have argued that Trump didn’t really mean that losing the two cities is a “small price to pay,” but that he was referring to high gas prices. In that generous interpretation, Trump was arguing that his war, which has killed scores of civilians in the Middle East and an estimated 23 U.S. soldiers, is preventing Iran from waging large scale attacks on American cities. But Iran’s targets during the war have been U.S. installations in the Middle East, and it wasn’t targeting American cities before the war either.

California leaders, however, have taken his words at face-value.

Advocating for the mass death of his own citizens?

I don't think Los Angeles and San Diego will let them though.

[–] OldChicoAle@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago

Wtf does Nebraska bring to the economic table? You fuckers need us.

[–] iamthetot@piefed.ca 7 points 8 hours ago

This is partly why I dislike when people, particularly on Reddit, dismiss any and all far right talk as Russian bot troll farms.

This was live in front of real flesh and blood US citizens who cheered.

treason

The betrayal of allegiance toward one's own country, especially by committing hostile acts against it or aiding its enemies in committing such acts

[–] Sunflier@lemmy.world 23 points 17 hours ago (4 children)

Trump v. United States, 603 U.S. 593 (2024) (holding that presidential immunity from criminal prosecution presumptively extends to all of a president's "official acts" – with absolute immunity for official acts within an exclusive presidential authority that Congress cannot regulate such as the pardon, command of the military, execution of laws, or control of the executive branch).

It's still treason. They've just removed judicial/ legal remedies. Leaving only...

Stack this one on the treason pile.

[–] BuckFutter@timeyak.com 5 points 14 hours ago

Yep, going to need a mountain soon enough.

[–] Washedupcynic@lemmy.ca 75 points 18 hours ago (3 children)

Iran could take out the president, the supreme court, and all of congress. It's a small price to pay.

[–] daychilde@lemmy.world 5 points 15 hours ago (3 children)

Much of Congress, sure, unless you're a "both sides" person, in which case fascism adores you.

[–] Lileath@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

Iran could kill every single politician in the USA, from the most unimportant one to Trump and the world would be a better place due to the USA collapsing

Conservatives hate their perceived domestic opposition more than they hate the country they entered into an unprovoked war with.

[–] Sunflier@lemmy.world 17 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Conservatives hate their perceived domestic opposition more than they hate the country they entered into an unprovoked war with.

If you watch the video clip of him saying that, the crowd enthusiastically cheers.

[–] mrmaplebar@fedia.io 9 points 15 hours ago

They're cultists. These people would cheer at literally anything.

[–] gjoel@programming.dev 14 points 15 hours ago

Just a reminder that that Denmark still has an offer for California, and we would not suggest a foreign power take out any part of it.

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 8 points 14 hours ago

I would prefer Iran to take out Mar-A-Lago, followed by every conservative leader. Because, let's be frank, the war was caused by those dickheads.

[–] deegeese@sopuli.xyz 23 points 18 hours ago

On brand for that child rapist.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 3 points 12 hours ago

Wait, does "POTUS totally fine with virus destroying cities full of people he doesn't like" not count? 'Cause I've had that square on the board filled in for six years already.

[–] Z745812939054@lemmy.zip 8 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

to be completely fair i'm totally fine with florida falling into the ocean, however non-moron non-climate change-deniers have plenty of time to get out

however non-moron non-climate change-deniers have plenty of time to get out

Some of them do. Some of them are children, and some of them are financially trapped.

I would love to know how one interprets those comments as being somehow related to gas prices. But it’s hard for me to get in that mindset, seeing as my mother refrained from smoking meth while pregnant with me. And what’s really sad is that Iran would never even consider taking out any American city. Because we live in a world where the fucking Ayatollahs are the voice of reason in global politics.

Nah. Soon that funny caramel guy who cleans the table or the floor in the white house will go boom in front of that Orange Miscarriage.

[–] Stern@lemmy.world 11 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

Imagine saying like 15% of the U.S. economy or whatever Cali is is a small price to pay. He is stupid as shit.

EDIT: I was just guessing but was close, it's apparently 14%.

He need to be either in prison, or under one. I couldn’t possibly care less which one it is, but one it must be.

[–] JustPlainDave@lemmy.zip 2 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Did you ever see that show Hunters? The gist is that a team of Holocaust survivors and their children/grandchildren spent several decades hunting down remaining Nazis that had survived. Long story short; Hitler survived and escaped to Argentina. They find him and catch him and he's put on trial in international court. Ironically, his court-appointed lawyer is a Jew who genuinely tries to do his job and get him to plead insanity. Hitler being Hitler ignores him because he's Jewish and demands to be questioned by the court. He's allowed to take the stand and goes on a rant that guarantees his conviction. He's thrown into a solitary confinement cell in the Hague and spends the rest of his days screaming to nobody because nobody can hear him.

I'd be happy with Trump getting a similar punishment.

[–] Pratai@piefed.ca 2 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

I have never heard of that, no. But I kinda want to watch it now.

[–] JustPlainDave@lemmy.zip 2 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

It was several years ago when I watched it, but it was pretty good. Had al Pacino, Carol Kane, Saul Rubenek and a bunch of other great actors.

[–] Pratai@piefed.ca 2 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

Damn! Gonna check it out. Thanks

[–] JustPlainDave@lemmy.zip 4 points 14 hours ago

"Oh, come on, librul! He's just joking!"

  • Some MAGA idiot in Orange county.
[–] Ledivin@lemmy.world 10 points 18 hours ago

I hope Iran takes out the White House and Congress. A small price to pay for a better world.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 8 points 17 hours ago

Even by Republicans standards, he is quite the asshole. And that's saying a lot.
