For those without context...

Ahoge (をホ毛, をホげ), literally "foolish hair," is a visual cue common to Japanese anime and manga. Consisting of a single cute, often long, lock of hair sticking out from the top of the head, it is most often used to identify foolish, bumbling or carefree characters.

That’s not exclusive to anime, Alfalfa here was originally created as part of β€œOur Gang” back in the 30s:

and don't forget "Our Gang"

That could be due to a mutation in sonic hedgehog.

I know that sounds like a joke, but it's not.

Edit: Taking a closer look, that cat definitely has a sonic hedgehog mutation. That's the source of what looks like a split in the nose, plus the eyes being set slightly far apart.

well the article says "Sonic hedgehog is a morphogen that patterns the developing embryo using a concentration gradient characterized by the French flag model." so i guess you're right

Seriously, I was wondering why we're all focusing on the antenna whisker when DAT NOSE

[–] HappyCatLuvs_U@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago

Must get bad reception with such a tiny antenna. Explains why it takes them so long to download the braincell.

Yes, due to a sonic hedgehog mutation.

That's not a joke.
