Mildly Interesting

This is for strictly mildly interesting material. If it's too interesting, it doesn't belong. If it's not interesting, it doesn't belong.

This is obviously an objective criteria, so the mods are always right. Or maybe mildly right? Ahh.. what do we know?

Just post some stuff and don't spam.

I feel the same way.

You are barely keeping it together.

If your broken glass is single, my coffee mug is interested in having an open relationship

Feline drop

I think it's an art piece now

On that note

these two pieces together

Is it all one big piece, or is it three pieces working together 😄

[–] NeatNit@discuss.tchncs.de 12 points 1 week ago (4 children)

Yes, I had to fight my own pedantry to post that phrasing! It's one piece, but calling it two pieces connected by a handle is the only way I could think of to describe it and actually be understood. I challenge you to come up with a title for this which is both easy to understand and topologically accurate.

but calling it two pieces connected by a handle is the only way I could think of to describe it and actually be understood

Yes completely fair! I'm actually not sure about what would count as a separate "piece" with glassware and ceramics. There's probably a mereological argument for why its one or the other

[–] NeatNit@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 1 week ago

Never heard that word before. Wikipedia: "Mereology is the philosophical study of part-whole relationships." Fascinating that there's a name for that!

Would you settle for

"OH SHIT...damnit. oh wait a minute..."

[–] Val@anarchist.nexus 2 points 1 week ago

If you consider a mug to consist of two parts, the handle and the cup, the cup has broken into pieces and the handle is holding two of them together. So I think "two pieces held together by the handle" is the most correct way to describe it.

[–] sudoMakeUser@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Two shards held together by the handle to form one piece

[–] NeatNit@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 1 week ago

Dang that's pretty good

Sometimes all you need is to get a handle on things.

Would be a great kintsugi piece.

Better art than a banana taped to the wall.

[–] Eheran@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Pretty low bar.

[–] genuineparts@infosec.pub 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Looking at how thick that glass is... Is the floor okay?

[–] NeatNit@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Lol, it's not that thick. The floor is not okay, but it's been like that for years :P

[–] faercol@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 week ago

That floor is extremely relatable

[–] dektep@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

you gotta keep drinking from it

[–] NeatNit@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 1 week ago

Why does it make every drink taste like blood 🤔

I considered it. Should I cross-post?

I do strongly think that "mildly interesting" is the most accurate category for this

[–] snooggums@piefed.world 3 points 1 week ago

You picked correctly.
