My steam is all friendslop and my friends are never available to play with me, and I HATE multiplayer.

I remember the Call of Duty lobbies in 2009 and it was nothing but losers with shitty mics yelling slurs at people!

I hate it. I hate them. I wanna play by myself and a fun game, but I cannot find any! What are some good singleplayer games?! I'm feigning.

I hear you, friend. I only play single-player games.

Motorslice is pretty fun.

And I picked up Dead as Disco on the Autumn sale because I enjoyed the demo.

Because of other people.

Some of my favorites games that come to mind, some are older but you might have missed them.

Sea of stars (chrono trigger like) Outer wilds (exploration, puzzle, mystery, atmospheric storytelling) The messenger (ninja gaiden / metroidvania like) Ori (platformer) Mark of the ninja (platformer) Shank (platformer) Esoteric Ebb (dialog based isometric CRPG) Disco Elysium (dialog bssed isometric CRPG) Blue prince (roguelike puzzle mystery? idk) Hades 1/2 (action roguelike)

[–] moonlight@fedia.io 3 points 6 days ago

+1 for Outer Wilds, maybe my favorite game ever. Go in 100% blind.

[–] Macallan@lemmy.world 5 points 6 days ago

I just got done playing Control, and it was a lot of fun. Thinking about picking up the sequel.

"Prey" is fantastic and regularly on sale for a few dollars

Wtf is onlineslop? I think my 70 games wishlist has 6 or 7 multiplayer games; and I have the secondary "following" list as well.

Indy:

Northern Journey
Neon White
ADACA
Ctrl Alt Ego
Ballistic Zen

AA:

All games by Mimimi Games
BlazeBlue Entropy Effect
A Hat in Time
Last Train Home
Tainted Grail

Literally slop of online. I hate Overwatch, I hate Marvel Rivals, I hate Fortnite, and tbh I hate Soulslike games because most have an online element I never asked for.

I mean it, I hate other people in online games. I don't want other people in my games I want it to be me and only me. I have hated online games since 2009 when I got into a CoD lobby and it was nothing but the worst humanity has to offer.

Good suggestions by the way, Neon White looks incredible. Getting it now.

Basically you hate live service games

What kinds of games do you like? There's tons of different ones, the best game in the world isn't to do anything for you if you don't gel with its genre. Also, how recent are we talking? Does Baldur's Gate 3 still count, or do you want something from this year?

[–] LeftReddit2@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Platformers and first person shooters, usually. Though I am open to anything so long as it doesn't fucking require some kind of onlineslop.

[–] lath@piefed.social 3 points 6 days ago

Have ya played the Ori games? They're on sale now. Most people reviewed them highly.

Can't go wrong with replaying the STALKER series and their major overhaul mods.

...Too many games, can't think of any...

Tbh I enjoyed the hell out of Spider-Man 2 recently. I'm just a fan of Spider-Man in general though.

I just got Lantern of the Laughless Saint, which is an indie game made by fans of Morrowind/Elder Scrolls. It plays like a mix of Morrowind and Skyrim, takes place in a funky fantasy world with animal-people, and you can freely switch between swords/bows and magic with a button. I've only played about an hour so far, but I'm liking it enough.

I also just bought (but haven't started yet) Nivalis Nights, which is a sidequel to their first game Cloudpunk. You play a new business owner trying to build up their new ramen business. There are activities for managing your business(es), stocking them up, fishing, growing crops, hanging out and enjoying the city scenery.

Edit: there's also the Grow Home/Grow Up games.

Future? No Thanks!

Dishonored

Styx

Fable TLC and Anniversary are on steam.

Lunacid

FlyKnight

ME: Shadow games

Mad Max

The Arkham series

Fallout

Elder Scrolls

Tainted Grail

Going Medieval is a city/community builder similar to Rimworld but it's all medieval and dark ages stuff. It's super fun.

The Saboteur (timely imo)

Any of the Tomb Raider games

Selaco is a fun boomer shooter

Half Sword

Kingdoms of Amalur

The recent Jedi games (Fallen Order and Survivor)

Half-Life/Black Mesa and HL2+the Episodes.

Prototype

Dread Delusion

Mohrta

Teardown (they did come out with a multiplayer update)

Paleo Pines

Horizon

God of War and Ragnarok

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk

Ty the Tasmanian Tiger series

Exanima

Ghostrunner

Hogwarts Legacy was actually really fun imo

The System Shock remakes

Shadows of Doubt

The Space Marine games

Kenshi

The Destroy All Humans! remakes

Hellpoint

Solasta (basically a DnD 5e ripoff)

Viscera Cleanup Detail/Goblin Cleanup can both be pretty chill and relaxing

KoTOR

The Surge games

The Mafia games

These are all I came up with from my own steam library

Pacific Drive comes to mind. Great game.

[–] 11111one11111@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago

Crimson desert is like The Witcher 3 fucked RDR2. Honestly one of the best games ive played in a minute and for it being less than 1 year old, there already is over 1,500 mods written for it on nexus.

[–] cyberfae@piefed.social 2 points 6 days ago

If you like survival games, there are the Subnautica games. Also Planet Crafter offers a single player mode and is pretty fun. The Witcher and Horizon Zero Dawn series are both good RPGs. The Portal and Talos Principle games are great if you like puzzles.

[–] Yggnar@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago

The new control resonant is fucking awesome.

[–] newthrowaway20@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I'm having a blast with control resonant. Highly recommend.

[–] LeftReddit2@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)
[–] newthrowaway20@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago

Nope, nothing intrusive like Denuvo. I've had no problems playing it in offline mode on my steam deck.

[–] PlantJam@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago

A Plague Tale. Innocence is the first one, Requiem is the sequel. It's entirely linear with a pretty cool story. The "combat" is kind of puzzle adjacent, which makes no sense until you play it and see what I mean.

[–] buttmasterflex@piefed.social 1 points 6 days ago

Tainted Grail: Fall of Avalon is a lot of fun. It's a first person RPG with a dark take on Arthurian legend. It's not perfect, but it's had a lot of updates, some free DLC, and paid expansions that are actually expansions to the game.

[–] NightFantom@slrpnk.net 1 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Have you played Terraria? I love it, it does have multiplayer but it's not required for anything

Edit: oops you said recent, nvm lol
