Rules for Posting Guides on Our Community

1. Defining a Guide Guides are comprehensive reference materials, how-tos, or comparison tables. A guide must be well-organized both in content and layout. Information should be easily accessible without unnecessary navigation. Guides can include flowcharts, step-by-step instructions, or visual references that compare different elements side by side.

2. Infographic Guidelines Infographics are permitted if they are educational and informative. They should aim to convey complex information visually and clearly. However, infographics that primarily serve as visual essays without structured guidance will be subject to removal.

3. Grey Area Moderators may use discretion when deciding to remove posts. If in doubt, message us or use downvotes for content you find inappropriate.

4. Source Attribution If you know the original source of a guide, share it in the comments to credit the creators.

5. Diverse Content To keep our community engaging, avoid saturating the feed with similar topics. Excessive posts on a single topic may be moderated to maintain diversity.

6. Verify in Comments Always check the comments for additional insights or corrections. Moderators rely on community expertise for accuracy.

Community Guidelines

By following these rules, we can maintain a diverse and informative community. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to the moderators. Thank you for contributing responsibly!

I just don’t know what the FIFA Peace Prize means these days.

[–] baguettefish@discuss.tchncs.de 18 points 3 weeks ago

it means shakira will sing a song for you

[–] emergencyfood@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 weeks ago

It's the prize you get for ensuring the FIFA leadership peace of mind from pesky corruption investigations.

The real story here isn’t asshat Trump. It’s that the US can’t keep its hands to itself, and it’s been that way for decades. Trump is just the new boss. The next one will also attack various countries.

[–] moodoovoodoo@lemmy.world 8 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

Ah 'both sides'. Yes. The quantity of countries per president doesn't matter.

Yes, it's bad that other presidents authorized attacks on other countries that they shouldn't have. But also yes, Trump is objectively the greater evil.

[–] speckofrust@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 3 weeks ago

Not both side. One side. The US side. Versus the rest of us. I don’t give two fucks about your shit political parties. I give a fuck about how your country uses the rest of the world as its litter box.

Probably gonna need to be updated soon.

[–] FaceDeer@fedia.io 28 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

America itself will soon be on the list.

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 11 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Soon? The American people are under attack. Their constitution is under attack.

[–] FaceDeer@fedia.io 8 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

But they're not being literally bombed by their military. That's the "soon" part.

If only. The rest of us out here in the outside world would have much preferred America to start the punching with its own face. I guess they kind of did, but it's getting everywhere now.

Looks like Cuba is next.

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 34 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

That's just the ones directly. That's none attacked by ~~paid proxy~~ terrorist forces.

[–] Hamartia@lemmy.world 13 points 3 weeks ago

Or coerced/bullied/threatened into obedience.

[–] joecitizen@piefed.ca 32 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

The Yanks have always been war mongering pieces of shit.

[–] Theoriginalthon@lemmy.world 9 points 3 weeks ago

And apart from the revolutionary war never had troops invaded them, so the general public has no idea what a war is actually like

[–] tidderuuf@lemmy.world 31 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Probably gonna add Canada, Mexico and Cuba to that list here soon. The old codger is getting desperate.

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 10 points 3 weeks ago

Well Mexico should already be on there. And arguably Cuba. I would say a blockade is an attack.

[–] blockheadjt@sh.itjust.works 28 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

There's a Joe in the George column

[–] blargh513@sh.itjust.works 13 points 3 weeks ago

The placement is by order, not position. However, I think position would be better.

Why is America not on this list? ICE are terrorists hell-bent on destroying America in trump’s name.

It’s kinda surreal that of this chart, every country that Trump and W bombed, Obama did too

[–] codydodd@lemmy.ca 17 points 3 weeks ago (4 children)

Obama appointed bush's minister of war and economy before inauguration. He was a wolf in sheep's clothes.

[–] ianhclark510@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I probably would have fallen for it, granted I was sixteen when he was elected for his second term

[–] codydodd@lemmy.ca 17 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (2 children)

I remember (canadian here) in grad school and my class asked if it could be canceled because of the inauguration and I stood up and said, no, I am paying for this class. My peers sneered but I dont care. I had the right hunch. Obama was a neoliberal warmaker. To be fair, even Obama doesnt understand why he got the novel peace prize (he has admitted it multiple times). Ill give him that!

[–] FlyingCircus@lemmy.world 7 points 3 weeks ago

Because the Nobel committee are also neoliberals.

nO nEw WaRs!

[–] woop_woop@lemmy.world 21 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

This would be cooler if it had sources

[–] ooli3@sopuli.xyz 25 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)
[–] Axolotl_cpp@feddit.it 8 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Before anyone says "B-But wikipedia is no source!!" That's true but wikipedia has sources itself which you may check and verify

[–] J_N_F@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago

This is the internet, not high school.

I don't think you'll find many people here who would argue with Wikipedia as a source.

The most peaceful president everyone

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 15 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Really puts the Yemen situation into high relief. We've been at war with them for over 20 years, but we keep pretending they attacked us out of the blue a few years ago.

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

The big attack on the US we were focused on in the Middle East for a bit was the attack on the USS Cole in October of 2000. We were ramping up for possible action in response to it over the next 11 months, but then 9/11 happened and everyone forgot Yemen existed again.

I, for one, want to thank our glorious USA overlords, for not nuking any new countries this decade. And for not (again) financing terrorist in my country this decade (well, at least nothing got reported); nor black sites (this decade), and only manipulating our elections and financing far right parties. And making sure the "tech" giants keep exploiting us.

I am so lucky. /s

No need for nuance

[–] Bieren@lemmy.today 7 points 2 weeks ago

Fake news. The fifa peace prize award winner would never do anything like this.

[–] Maroon@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Trump bombed Pakistan? When?

[–] SPRUNTnsfw@fedinsfw.app 6 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Why isn't the USA on the list?
