Thats pretty stupid unless you have a massive oversupply of energy
Electric Vehicles
Overview:
Electric Vehicles are a key part of our tomorrow and how we get there. If we can get all the fossil fuel vehicles off our roads, out of our seas and out of our skies, we'll have a much better environment. This community is where we discuss the various different vehicles and news stories regarding electric transportation.

My car didn't charge again last night because the neighborhood cats keep warming themselves on the charger pad. Or any creature in the winter being cold. Would a chipmonk turn it off too or will you wake up to baked chipmonks?
Woah, it makes breakfast too? Sold.
Setting any efficiency concerns aside, wouldn't these have even more copper to steal than the regular charging cables with the induction loops?
Keep in mind it is designed primarily in support of a $160K EV.
It will definitely be sitting in a private garage.
There's a lot of back and forth in the comments about efficiency. I'd say that even if there's 10% losses compared to wired, it's still better than gasoline overall.
I agree. No combustion car is 50% efficient while all EVs are at least 80% efficient (energy wise). Complaining about how other people choose to use the energy they pay is a waste in itself.
Even when the waste is going to drive up electricity prices? Should we also not complain about ai datacenters because they pay for the energy they use?
If energy waste is a concern to you, spend your time helping people switch from combustion cars to EVs. If induction charging is what it takes, that’s fine.
Anything but standard swappable batteries...
