Jupiter made with blender? CONFIRMED: SPACE IS A HOAX!!1!

[–] nqua@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

not necessarily, usually i print things after i created them with blender and even if jupiter was printed, it would then still be real. just its origin would be ... interesting, i mean how many edges, faces and vertices? could we still see and count them with todays technologie? how was it printed - my printer doesnt even support printing liquids to astronimical bodies let alone gas. so many questions !!

[–] notabot@piefed.social 1 points 1 week ago

I reckon they didn't even bother 3d printing it. I think they just printed an image on paper and stuck it to the sky. When it goes below the horizon they scrape it off and put a new sticker up, with an image rendered from a slightly different angle, so it's ready for the next night.

Blender on Jupiter confirmed?

[–] dalekcaan@feddit.nl 3 points 1 week ago

Weird, I thought they were based in Amsterdam.

[–] ebber@europe.pub 17 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Well this experiment happened on earth in earth gravity, while the entirety of Saturn is like a sphere in outer space.

So we need to send the peas to the ISS and rerun the experiment.

[–] ironhydroxide@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 week ago (2 children)

On earth, witch happens to be a sphere in outer space.....

[–] stringere@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 week ago

Man, just when you think you're safe, witch happens.

[–] HoneyMustardGas@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

The difference in gravity does matter.

[–] Batman@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It's the same gravity, just in a different position. Saturn's gravity effects us all, but we show it no respect, hmmph.

[–] HoneyMustardGas@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

So Saturns gravity is the same as Earth's gravity?

[–] FiskFisk33@startrek.website 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Oh! So its because the protective around around saturns blades is hexagonal, of course!

[–] Leviathan@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Or circular with 6 equidistant holes.

[–] treadful@lemmy.zip 8 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

What are you doing with those peas though?

[–] rockerface@lemmy.cafe 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

A model of Saturn, obviously

[–] ChunderBustickles@piefed.nz 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I only.just realised it's Jupiter not Saturn that has "the 'gon" and blew straight past the title...

its been a long week, though, so maybe that's related

[–] rockerface@lemmy.cafe 5 points 1 week ago

Every planet deserves a hexagon. Hexagons are bestagons!

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

Hoping for whirled peas, I suppose.

[–] saruwatarikooji@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Split pea soup I'd assume. Pretty good when made right.

[–] aburrito@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

The bottom of Saturn has a ~~dodecahedron~~ decagon!

[–] pebbles@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I think there is one less dimension and two less points on the actual shape.

[–] aburrito@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The bottom of Saturn has duodenitis

[–] wyldrstallyns@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

So... Saturn's thicker than a bowl o' oatmeal?

[–] GenXLiberal@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Oh, lawd. She comin'. Ain't no retrograde here.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Oops! Wrong planet. I came here to make a stupid "Uranus" joke. /s

[–] Logarrhythmia@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Saturn… Sat on uranus! i dunno, tried my best, sorry.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 week ago

That's Gold!

[–] bobbyfiend@retrolemmy.com 6 points 1 week ago

And from this we must assume that Saturn is surrounded, indeed bound, by a massive metallic cylinder.

[–] ricecake@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 week ago

The people who figured out the math of the hexagon also figured out you could do it with a bucket of water and a turntable.
Made for good demonstrations when reporting the results.
(They used more regulated and measured pieces for more rigorous tests. They just also had a bucket)

[–] InvalidName2@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 week ago

Whirled Peas is not enough, we demand an inter solar solution.

[–] davetortoise@reddthat.com 5 points 1 week ago

I mean to be fair there probably is the same kind of fluid dynamics effect going on here

[–] Texas_Hangover@lemmy.radio 4 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Peas are one of my least favorite foods, out of morbid curiosity, what are you going to do with that pea slurry?

[–] Tacky4092@feddit.org 7 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Ever heard of the concept of soup?

[–] Leviathan@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Probably eat the creamy soup? Just a guess, not OP. Personally I enjoy my pea soup to be lumpy.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 week ago

One man's pea soup is another man's slurry. /s

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That must be one hell of a blender.

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 week ago

Immersion Blender's will change your life. It's almost as useful as an air fryer.

[–] AlphaOmega@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

I like Enoch's interpretation of Saturn.

[–] nqua@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago

at least we now know where saturn got its rotation and storms from.
