I guess Third Way is sending in their nuke.

Are they doing that thing that parents do to try and get their kids to stop doing something by showing interest in it?

[–] Archangel1313@lemmy.ca 20 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Ooh. This is probably not a good idea. She's toxic as fuck.

Of course the democrats are stupid enough to bring Kamala Harris back into play.

[–] A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Hey, shes still fresh off fucking up the last election. She still has plenty of get up and go for fucking up this one.

Why would El-Syaed agree to such a thing.

[–] hoppeduponcoffee@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I share your sentiment to a degree. However, Kamala remains popular with centrist liberal voters who are still sore she lost the 2024 election. Having her endorse El-Sayed on his campaign trail could entice voters who see him as “extreme.”

At this point, he needs every last vote he can conjure. It’s politics in 2026. Such is the state of a corrupt, two-party, winner-take-all electoral system.

From NBC:

Roxie Richner, a spokesperson for El-Sayed, told NBC News on Wednesday that “Abdul is thrilled to welcome Vice President Harris to Michigan for a conversation about improving Black maternal health and bringing down healthcare costs.”

Richner added: “He looks forward to hearing directly from Black women and healthcare providers and discussing how he’ll continue that work in the Senate. There’s no better choice for Michiganders than Abdul when it comes to making healthcare more affordable, and he’s grateful Vice President Harris will join him in spreading that message.”

She's going to run in 2028, isn't she? She's trying to ride his coattails.

[–] Ironfist79@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'd prefer if she stayed away.

[–] SirEDCaLot@lemmy.today 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

everyone would prefer if she stayed away. However the DNC is probably going to push her again as they consider her the 'safe' candidate who is not going to upset their donors or push any sort of real change like people want.

[–] A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I.E. the candidate that will lose, but they can shrug their shouldres and go "but we twied"

a lot of shitty dems have turned coat and said they'll support rogers. i suspect this is an attempt to get them back. I hate it, but that's the best reason I can come up with.

El-Sayed needs black women to vote. Kamala is a poor substitute for Obama, but she'll do folks.

If you only invite your friends to the party, you limit the number of new friends you can make. Sometimes you invite that annoying guy with the hot sister.

"Please forget about me throwing Gaza under the bus a couple of years ago. It's a two-party system!"

And, sadly, that's accurate. It pisses me off that there has been no accountability for this, but she is still head and shoulders above anything smelling like MAGA.

[–] anarchy79@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Kamala single handedly invaded Gaza and murdered babies with her bare hands.

Jesus christ MAGA isn't even the biggest threat to the left, it's the single issue leftists.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

Oh, FFS, I hope she doesn't run again. JFC.

[–] godsammitdam@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 week ago

Looking to witewash herself.

Don't fall for when centrists learn to speak our language as it becomes popular.

[–] Microtonal_Banana@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 week ago

So is she pretending to move left or is El Sayed going to make a pivot to the status quo?

[–] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I think this is one of those necessary evil type of things.

He's very vulnerable with centrists, because they suck and don't think blue no matter who applies to them, apaic is spending on Rogers, and the Democratic Jewish community is fundraising for his Republican opponent.

Like it or not, unity will be important to him if he wants to win and help enact progressive policies.

Plus if he's talking about black healthcare, to black women, she's as good as any right now outside of Jocelyn Elders.

Of course of she had any wits about her she'd use this setting to also apologize for her snub of the Muslim community.

[–] skozzii@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Please no. I'm convinced if Biden ran he would have won, but America just isn't ready for a black woman to be president, and as terrible as it sounds, trying to force Hillary and then Kamala is why Trump won. Period. Full stop.

[–] benjirenji@slrpnk.net 7 points 1 week ago

How about actually running a popular candidate? Hillary had all the baggage of the past when voters looked for a change and Kamala barely had 3 months to campaign. I don't think enough Americans care about what's dangling between a candidate's legs as long as they are actually popular across the field.

[–] Saledovil@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 week ago

Biden would have lost all 50 states.
